Also responsible for managing the accounting functions related to gifts and endowments and UTSW joint ventures and component units. Also relations with our banks, credit card processors, customers, etc. Strong interpersonal and applicable financial and accounting skills are necessary. JOB DUTIES
- Manage the Treasury division, which includes banking, fiduciary accounting, joint venture and component unit accounting, UTS 142 Compliance, and AFS' PCI function. This includes the development of work plans and annual performance evaluations for classified staff. Establish priorities of tasks and responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely completion.
- Work with the Director of Fiscal Reports and Accounting Operations in the preparation of the annual financial report in compliance with UT System and State Comptroller guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as related to UT Southwestern's Financial Assets, and Component Entities. Will also coordinate with fiscal reports as needed for monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reports and other periodic reports filed with external agencies.
- Responsible for creation and ongoing management of a quality assurance program to ensure all applicable reports are accurate, meet deadlines, and are in compliance with various regulations and instructions, etc.
- Responsible for overseeing accounting operations for multiple related joint ventures and component entities. Responsibilities include accounting activities for those entities as well as integrating their financials (when applicable) into UT Southwestern's financial statements.
- Partner with Information Resources and other AFS directors to implement new systems or enhancements for all sections. Recommend new or enhanced operational and reporting processes and procedures.
- Manage and control automated voucher postings from various accounting sub-systems and general ledger reconciliations.
- Monitor various accounting reports to ensure accuracy and correctness of financial information related to UTSW funds and other areas of responsibility.
- Read and interpret current reporting and student information requirements of various agencies (e.g., State Comptroller, UT System, GASB, etc.).
- Maintain written policies and procedures for divisions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
