About the Position: The Probation Legal Staff Supervisor position monitors and directs the work of a team comprised of Senior Legal Processors (SLPs) and Legal Processors (LPs) in the Adult Division. SLP's support the research, preparation, issuance, and maintenance of legal documents. LP's assist probation officers with various clerical duties such as typing, preparing, confirming, copying, distributing, and filling a variety of materials.
The Probation Legal Staff Supervisor exercises considerable discretion and judgment when resolving workflow problems with the Court, including issues with court minutes, notices of arrest out of county, and warrant questions. This position also performs administrative duties, such as tracking petty cash and bus passes and processing time sensitive legal documents received in the mail. Although the primary focus of this position is the supervision and coordination of day-to-day staff activities, the Probation Legal Staff Supervisor also trains staff; reviews desk productivity, completes performance evaluations for direct reports, and explains department policies and procedures of the courts to staff and clients.
As the ideal candidate to join the team, you will possess many of the following: • Experience with Probation operations as well as the Court system • Knowledge of criminal justice system legal documents and associated paperwork • A positive leadership style and excellent problem-solving abilities • Confidence in engaging with other law enforcement agencies • A practical approach to formulating procedures and policies affecting support staff operations • Experience coordinating the day-to-day activities of legal and office support staff • An aptitude for working well with a diverse client base • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Knowledge of the California Law Enforcement Telecommunication System (CLETS) as well as PacMan, Odyssey, and IJS • Experience with Microsoft Office programs
