Summary of Position

Fulgent's Senior Accounting Manager aids the Controller in the leadership of the Accounting Department. The Senior Accounting Manager plays a significant role to the Company's leadership team with decision support, financial reporting, month-end close process, SOX internal controls, audit support, and revenue ASC 606 accounting. As Senior Accounting Manager, this role also supports the Controller in the execution of the missions and leadership for the accounting and finance functions, including setting and stewarding the team culture, and creating career growth and development opportunities for key staff and management.

Key Job Elements




  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, P&L reporting, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and internal accounting policies.
  • Financial Accounting Close Process: Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes by reviewing journal entries and reconciliations, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Audit Support: Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and respond to inquiries during audits.
  • Account Reconciliation: Reconcile and review various balance sheet accounts, including investments held-to-maturity, supplies (inventory), accounts receivable and allowances, and revenue cut-off.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulatory requirements and tax filings. Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting and financial regulations.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements related to financial accounting close process to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting
  • Supervision: Oversee a team of accounting and finance professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentoring.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform financial analysis to support decision-making, assess the financial health of the organization, and provide recommendations for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
  • Sarbanes Oxley (SOX): Assist in establishing/maintaining strong accounting controls and practices over financial reporting to ensure compliance with SOX.
  • Revenue recognition standard (ASC 606): Ensure proper revenue recognition related to variable consideration contracts and cost of sales including inventory count is applied in compliance with accounting standard guide.
  • Provide support to various departments in providing financial and other data needed on an as needed basis.
  • Active member of the company's management team, participating in management team meetings and other leadership activities.


Qualifications

Knowledge/Experience




  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, economics or statistics.
  • 7+ years of accounting experience with at least 3 years of progressive management experience.
  • Accounting experience for public companies and big-four or mid-size accounting firm required.
  • Sound knowledge of financial activities, policies and processes, including consolidations, Sarbanes-Oxley, and US GAAP compliance
  • Demonstrated deep knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), specifically, ASC 606, and ASC 805
  • Experience coordinating and managing internal/external audit process
  • Demonstrated track record of maintaining an effective system of internal controls in a public company
  • Experience in environments of significant change and growth; leading the migration and integration of different reporting tools. Prior experience driving finance/accounting teams through digital transformation is preferred * Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) preferred.
  • Life science, healthcare, and laboratory services experience is preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills, NetSuite, and Blackline.
  • Ability to analyze situations accurately through a systemic approach to resolve complex accounting problems.
  • Ability to use tact and diplomacy to establish and maintain cooperative relationships when dealing with the needs, problems, and/or concerns of employees, the public, and/or outside agencies.
  • Attention to details and pursue for accuracy.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
