Grants and Contracts Manager

ISB is uncovering new solutions to the world's most pressing health problems. We are seeking a Grants & Contracts Manager to develop, support, and manage grant and contract proposals in support of scientific research.

Essential Duties:




  • Manages the proposal submission process, ensuring that deadlines are met and all required materials are submitted in collaboration with investigators and scientific staff
  • Works with Compliance Manager to assess conflict of interest, grant safety, and human subject obligations (pre-proposal)
  • Assists Director with monitoring performance indicators. Tracks deadlines, renewal dates, and deliverables and ensures timely submission of final technical, financial and other reports as required
  • Reviews and approves purchase orders, re-budgeting requests, and project personnel changes based on understanding of impacted budgets
  • Assists Investigators and Finance with cost projections
  • Monitors compliance with regulations, internal procedures, and terms and conditions
  • Coordinates with Investigators, Director, and Finance to monitor award spending
  • Post-award, accepts sponsor "Notices of Award." Reviews, monitors, and implements "Terms and Conditions" of awards. Works with Investigators and Finance Office to establish budgets in accounting system and purchasing permissions; prepares effort allocations, etc.
  • Works with collaborating institutions to problem-solve issues on grants and contracts as needed; prepares and modifies subcontracts and staff agreements
  • Develops and implements procedures for proper closeout of grant and contract accounts, as well as the submission of final documentation (FSR, Final Progress Report, Final Invention Statements).
  • Assists Director with subrecipient monitoring activities, including subrecipient questionnaire and audit report requests and corrective action plan monitoring as needed
  • Assists with research compliance assessment, including active collaboration with the Compliance Manager and Health & Safety team related to IRB, IACUC, Lab Safety, FCOI, etc.
  • Responds to requests for "Just in Time" information
  • In conjunction with Director, provides ISB-wide training. Works informally with new PIs and research staff to teach budget management, sponsored projects best practices, and institutional policies
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:



  • BA/BS degree in a related field is required; equivalent relevant training and/or work experience may substitute
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in research administration with some experience in a non-profit or government grant/contract research setting.
  • Strong client service orientation.


All ISB staff members are expected to have baseline technical skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately over email, the intranet/forum, etc. Employees should be able to use Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint at a functional level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Prior experience working with scientific research personnel, a strong background in ERA, understanding of applicable guidance documents (e.g. OMB circulars A-122, A-110, A-133, 2 CFR 200, NIH Grants Policy Statement, NSF PPAPG). Working knowledge of Federal, Non-Federal and Industry sponsored projects.

Expected annual pay is between $80,000 and $101,000.
