Purpose of Position

Management and oversight in the areas of financial reporting specific to GASB requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Provides management and oversight of all GASB pronouncements ensuring that UTS has followed GASB requirements
  • Assists in the preparation of the consolidated Annual Financial Report
  • Responsible for training and sharing pertinent GASB information to 14 institutions and System Administration
  • Responsible for leading the restatement of financial reports when required by GASB
  • Manages, conducts performance plans and reviews for staff that work on GASB projects
  • Works closely with external vendors that specialize in GASB
  • Responsible for dashboard reporting and consolidated reporting for 14 institutions in the area of GASB
  • Actively reviews current financial reporting procedures and processes for automated workflow improvements
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years or more of experience in accounting or related field.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Hyperion Financial Management experience
  • Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) knowledge
  • PeopleSoft experience
Working Conditions

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
  • Uses standard office equipment
  • Requires occasional evening or weekend hours
Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. Participation in TRS is mandatory.

A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration. The background check may include any or all of the following: criminal history check, prior employment verification, education verification, professional references check, and motor vehicle records check. Background checks are conducted by third-party vendors. Upon request form the third-party vendor, candidates under final consideration must provide the required information for the background checks to be completed.
