American Modern Insurance Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Reinsurance Accounting team! This role will be primarily responsible for reinsurance accounting and reporting support functions on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This role primarily supports key reinsurance accounting and reporting for both Statutory and IFRS accounting requirements. The Senior Accountant will be involved in ad hoc analyses and other accounting projects as needed, and is expected to continue to build expertise and capabilities in insurance accounting through formal and informal training and development channels.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:

• Participate in the accounting close process for monthly and quarterly close timeframes.
• Preparation of more complex accounting journal entries.
• Review and analyze cession statements, and payable receivable balances by treaty participant for an updated view of the companies' cashflows and credit risk per active treaty.
• Support the generation and review of Schedule P (losses), Schedule F (reinsurance) and status of letters of credit for reporting.
• Monitor, prepare and/or review complex account reconciliations that evidence the internal control mechanisms within various processes.
• Assist with other accounting department functions, regulatory filings, and other tasks as necessary.
• Proactively identify, research, and develop solutions for accounting issues, documenting applicable accounting guidance in memos, and providing on the job training to team members on accounting issues and end-to-end accounting processes.
• Demonstrate leadership in collaborating, coordinating, and driving quality processes related to financial reporting.
• Continue to build expertise and capabilities in Statutory and IFRS Accounting bases through on the job training, and by attending training and development opportunities both inside and outside of work.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Advanced degree and/or CPA or CFA, or Insurance Certification (CPCU, ARE).
• Strong Reinsurance Accounting knowledge and on the job experience with recording complex ledger transactions, developing and/or reviewing complex reconciliations, and understanding end-to-end sub-ledger functions across various transaction streams such as cash, receivables, payables, premiums, reinsurance, investments, and losses.
• Experience using Microsoft products and other BI data analytical tools, such as COGNOS Advance, Oracle Sequel, Power BI or similar programs.
• Experience in establishing/documenting end to end business/accounting processes
