Plans, develops and implements a system-wide risk management program to identify and mitigate patient harm, assess and mitigate other risks faced by the organization.

Identify and mitigate facility risks posing general liability exposure,

In partnership with Quality Leadership, oversee and promote the system Communication and Resolution program

Create and ensure risk manager event investigation, patient communication and documentation

Develops and implements clinical risk management consulting services

Fosters the development of strong working relations between local risk management with other departments, including but limited to: legal; quality; accreditation; patient safety; patient advocacy; business unit leaders and medical staff; compliance, and privacy and civil rights

In concert with the VP of Risk, directs the development and delivery of medical malpractice prevention and patient safety education programs

Leads the Risk Management teams system wide

Works with Claims Managers to respond to litigation against MultiCare including gathering documents, scheduling witnesses and other related tasks.

Position Summary

The Director of Risk Management, in partnership with other leaders in Quality and Compliance and Legal, develops and implements a regional system of clinical risk management services consistent with MultiCare's mission to deliver quality care to patients and the community. The Director, through subordinate Risk Managers, carries out programs to control the clinical risks associated with patient care services. The Director and Risk Managers collaborate with patient safety specialists, patient advocates, and others to develop and implement mitigation strategies to resolve and mitigate patient safety concerns and adverse outcomes of care. Hospital-based leaders may have a dual matrixed reporting structure.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Juris Doctorate Degree or advanced degree in a closely related field preferred
  • Eight (8) years of experience in risk management, including three years of professional liability experience
  • Five (5) years of experience in managerial or supervisory capacity

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $141,045.00 - $202,987.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
