Responsible for establishing flows for the fabrication of photolithography mask sets for new semiconductor manufacturing processes. The employee exercises independent judgment in developing the necessary computer programs, mask features, and corresponding documentation for these new processes.

• Generate the required data to enable new photo masks for newly developed processes, to run in Tower fabs
• Generate layer generation code to transform incoming data to the correct shapes and sizes on masks required for manufacturing
• Identify existing or create new scribeline structures required for new masks in manufacturing.
• Verify existing mask alignment schemes or establish new schemes as required for new masks, including the ability to run mask sets on the same wafers in multiple fabs.
• Design test structures (in CAD environment) and define tests for device characterization.
• Act as the liaison between the R&D process development and MaskCAD teams for all mask sets required for development.

• Experience with both semiconductor process development tasks, and mask data preparation tasks.
• Basic understanding of semiconductor process integration is required - ideally experience with complex mixed signal processes such as BiCMOS or Silicon Photonics processes. The candidate should have hands-on experience with the full process of the construction of data required to build photo masks, up to the point where final MEBES data is sent to the mask shop.
  Assumes responsibility for a significant portion of projects.
• Should be involved with and understand all aspects of a new process development project and lead all activities for this project related to the fabrication of photo masks.
  Will report to R&D group but interact on a daily basis with the MaskCAD group(s) at various sites throughout the company.
• The candidate will also need to interact with the photolithography process engineering groups at the various fabs they are working with in order to understand the interactions between physical masks and the photolithography tools in the fabs.

• Strong understanding of semiconductor processing and integration.
• Expert-level understanding the photo mask making process.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in related semiconductor roles or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or other relevant field.
• Specific computer skills desired: experience with software to read and edit mask layout data (e.g. Cadence Virtuoso software), layout verification and layout manipulation coding (e.g. Siemens/Mentor Graphics svrf language)
• B.S. OK, M.S. preferred, in engineering discipline: Electrical Eng, Computer Sci or related.
