We have an opportunity for a Tax Analyst to join our Indirect Tax team in Golden Valley, MN. Reporting to the Indirect Tax manager, you will be part of a team that is responsible for maintaining jurisdictional compliance regarding sales, use, property, and business taxes and filings for Pentair's legal entities in North America. You will:

  • Prepare indirect tax returns (sales, use, property, etc.) in a timely and accurate manner. Research and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare monthly general ledger account reconciliations, analyze variances, and resolve root causes.
  • Gather and analyze requested documentation for indirect tax audits, and work with tax auditors.
  • Stay informed regarding indirect tax regulations for multiple states. Monitor business processes for compliance with current rules and changes.
  • Utilize tax technology tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline indirect tax compliance and reporting.

Key Qualifications:

  • Have earned a degree in accounting or a related field. A bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred.
  • Have 3+ years of indirect tax experience in a multi-state operations environment, preferably for a manufacturing or similar company.
  • Have strong Excel skills and the ability to reconcile large amounts of data using formulas in existing and ad-hoc spreadsheets.
  • Ability to understand and analyze financial data and prepare various tax filings accordingly.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts and provide high-quality deliverables accurately and on time.
  • Ability to research, interpret, and apply tax regulations for multiple states.
  • Experience utilizing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to gather data and prepare filings.
  • Experience utilizing tax determination software (tax engine), such as Vertex or Sovos.

Compensation:

For this full-time position working at this location, the anticipated annualized base pay range will be from $61200 - $113600/ year. At Pentair, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range. Pentair considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with a demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, work location, and other relevant business or organizational needs. This position may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as annual incentive bonus.
