A Brief Overview

Responsible for the growth and development of members of the Data Warehouse including developers, BA/QA, and support staff. Holds regular one-on-one meetings with employees to maintain consistent communication, provide feedback, and assist in goal setting. Oversees creation, scheduling, and development of training processes for new employees.
Oversees department's shared mailboxes and work by directing others on: creating work tasks, distributing work, communicating with users, etc. Oversees communication, scheduling, creating, maintenance, and quality of regularly Data Warehouse processes. Works with business partners to transition processes and/or reports to provide technical solutions related to their data needs. Works with end-users to solve problems or answer questions that arise. Designs, develops, and documents processes to support the Data Warehouse as needed

What will you do?

  • EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT: Supervises members of the Data Warehouse by providing regular guidance and instruction on technical and non-technical topics. Collaborates with other managers within the department to understand employees' performance and areas where growth may be needed. Regularly communicates with employees and provides direct and actionable feedback on their day-to-day work and maintains weekly one-on-ones to help employees achieve success. Responsible for the engagement, growth, and development of employees. Holds monthly meetings dedicated to the co-creation and maintenance of goals to help employees achieve their full potential. Leverages regular communication to gain an understanding of employee's strengths, motivations, etc. to create short and long-term development goals and plans. Identifies and articulates value of each individual and their contributions Mentors employees by providing best practices on topics such as goal-setting, time management, communication, etc. Establishes and maintains clear expectations for roles and ensures accountability.
  • COMMUNICATION: Responsible for communication with outside vendors, state regulatory representatives, internal product owners, subject matter experts, underwriters, other managers, and programmers to understand, troubleshoot, and resolve complex problems. Monitors and prioritizes inboxes and support work to ensure timely responses and delivery of reliable manual and automated data feeds and reports. Helps develop, then oversee and/or run reports to monitor the status of all work to allow shifts in work or priorities to occur as needed.
  • ONBOARDING & TRAINING: Coordinates and executes onboarding and training of Data Warehouse employees by:
    * Working with other supervisors to determine and develop training needed
    * Scheduling onboarding and training activities
    * Maintaining training documentation
    * Staying up-to-date on employee progress relative to expectations
    * Reporting employee progress to Product Managers
  • MANAGEMENT: Manages and determines activities of personnel by determining work procedures, issuing written and oral instructions, analyzing and resolving work problems, and assisting employees in solving work problems. Interviews job candidates and initiates or recommends personnel actions including hiring, promotions, transfers, discharges, disciplinary measures, performance appraisals, salary adjustments, and staffing levels. Writes job postings, descriptions, position requests, etc. Reviews resumes, leads interview and feedback process, appraises references and works with HR to attract and identify the optimal hire to meet current and future business needs.
  • DATA WAREHOUSE: Oversees all aspects of data feeds and reports. Performs analysis on reporting process and identifies opportunities to create enhancements and improvements to the data and process. Designs and develops methods and procedures to enhance and verify data and is responsible for monitoring the work. Discusses resolutions to problems with leadership. This includes:
    * Mentoring others by using their strong understanding of the data and its meaning from a business perspective
    * Creating, monitoring and/or directing the review of data feeds and reports for reasonable changes
    * Creating, monitoring, and/or directing comparisons of primary and secondary data sources
    * Assisting in creating new processes and methods to verify and validate data used from multiple sources where no historical balancing records exist
    * Working with end-users to solve problems or answer questions that arise regarding the integrity of data

Education

Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent work experience.

Experience

Five or more years related work experience.

  • Experience working with Data Warehouses, Data Marts, etc.

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
  • Data manipulation software
  • Software, database or project management certification or designation
  • Insurance coverages and rating schemes and insurance products

  • Cloud-based technologies ex.Azure (DevOps, Data Studio, etc.)
