Job Summary:

The Senior Manager, ROC Engineering manages the team of ROC Operations Center production engineers who are responsible for performance optimization, continuous improvement, and execution of the daily production plan for Messer's fleet of ASU plants. He/she provides direct supervision of the engineer team, focusing on safety, operational excellence, talent development and continuous improvement.

Principal Responsibilities:



  • Daily oversight of the ASU fleet and management of the team of ROC engineers that are directly responsible for 30 plus ROC ASU production assets in North America

    • Performance Optimization
    • Coordination of the production / operation plan for each facility
    • Establishing the best possible power management plan with logistics and energy services
    • Downtime / loss producing event review
    • Drive proactive plant health monitoring
    • Drive proactive safety, reliability and efficiency improvement


  • Provide direct plant operational and troubleshooting support for high priority issues.
  • Develop the capabilities and knowledge of both the ROC engineer team and ROC operators.
  • Work with key stakeholders in the organization to improve existing business work practices (Supply Chain, Plant Sites, Energy, etc.)
  • Drive improvement initiatives for the ROC centering on efficiency, risk reduction, digitalization, and operational excellence.
  • Owner of the ROC EMBRACE project portfolio
  • Partnering with the ROC Operations Manager, responsible for integration of new plants into the ROC.
  • Support the mentorship and development of plant engineers in the field

  • ASU process expertise
  • Strong communication and visible leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence and build strong working relationships with key stakeholders in the organization.
  • Effective change management
  • Ability to manage, mentor and develop the capabilities of a team
  • Ability to think strategically, challenge the status quo and improve existing processes/ systems.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience working in a plant is a plus
  • Previous experience with people management is a plus


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in engineering
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in ASU plant operations
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
