Overview:
IDT isseeking a high-impact Controller to lead and scale a best-in-class accounting organization.
This role will oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, revenue accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, risk management, tax compliance, 401(k) plan administration, and the development and management of indirect rates. The Controller will also serve as a key liaison to external stakeholders including auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and government agencies, while ensuring a strong internal control environment and full compliance with applicable regulations (FAR, DFARS, GAAP).
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will work closely with executive leadership across the organization to drive operational efficiency, financial transparency, and risk-informed decision-making-directly contributing to the successful execution of IDT's long-term growth strategy.
This is a hybrid position & requires 3-5 days in the office, depending on business needs.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
The Controller will play a critical role in establishing and executing IDT's accounting operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical Controllership skills and act as a proactive strategic partner to the CFO and senior leadership team.
Key job responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Build and scale a high-performing accounting team. Foster a data-driven, transparent culture focused on continuous improvement, automation, and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with FP&A, Legal, Operations, and business leaders to assess and support the accounting and compliance implications of business initiatives.
- Accounting Operations Oversight: Lead all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, revenue recognition, and month-end close.
- Financial Reporting: Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP. Lead consistency in monthly closing processes and deliver insightful analysis of financial results.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain robust internal controls. Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations and standards, including FAR, DFARS, CAS, and GAAP.
- Risk Management: Identify and assess financial and operational risks across accounting processes. Implement controls, policies, and procedures to mitigate risk, ensure compliance, and safeguard company assets.
- Indirect Rates: Support the preparation, analysis, and compliance of indirect rates. Ensure accurate reporting and alignment with applicable government regulations and internal financial goals.
- Audit & Regulatory Management: Manage audits conducted by external agencies such as the DCAA, IRS, CPA firms, and other regulatory bodies. Oversee timely and compliant preparation of Incurred Cost Submissions.
- Tax & Benefits Reporting: Oversee all federal, state, and local tax filings. Partner with external tax advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy. Support benefits-related accounting and reporting, including 401(k) plan administration.
- Business Engagement: Partner closely with executive leadership and business stakeholders to provide accounting insights that support strategic decision-making.
- Communication: Lead company-wide communications related to accounting, compliance, tax, payroll, and policy updates.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Evaluate and enhance accounting systems and processes, driving automation, scalability, and efficiency
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience within corporate environments, and/or public accounting with large-to-mid sized corporate clients.
- 3+ years of experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager in a mid-to-large organization
- 3+ years of experience in government contracting, with working knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS
- 3+ years of experience leading and developing accounting teams
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- CPA license
- Strong command of U.S. GAAP, technical accounting, and financial reporting standards
- Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and financial modeling
Preferred Skills:
- Deltek CostPoint or a comparable ERP system
- Proven ability to build and lead accounting functions that scale with organizational growth and complexity
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement financial strategies aligned with long-term business goals; anticipating industry trends and regulatory changes
- Hands-on, action-oriented leader who effectively balances strategy and execution in a fast-paced environment

Pay Range*: $165,000 - $215,000
This amount may not be reflective of actual compensation that may be earned as pay is dependent on a candidate's experience, skills, and education. The posted range does not include bonuses, commissions, tips, or other benefits.
