A cook at Detroit Central Market is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of globally inspired culinary favorites from chicken wings, classic coney dogs, authentic Mexican burritos, to tempting Asian noodles and delicious NY-style pizza. They work in a fast-paced environment, ensuring food is made quickly, safely, and to consistent quality standards. THE STARTING RATE:$19.54
THE DAY-TO-DAY:
Maintain solid knowledge of food products and skillfully apply culinary techniques Identify and safely use kitchen equipment Restock kitchen supplies and food items required for service Properly label and date products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation Maintain solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation Assist kitchen leadership and staff in execution of service Maintain solid knowledge, understanding and preparation of base sauces, stocks and soups
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Two years of prior relevant experience in a similar resort setting preferred One year prior relevant cooking experience preferred
