Description

Acara Solutions is seeking a motivated and accomplished senior-level Project Engineer who will lead the installation and implementation of large, automated material handling systems for new and existing factories and programs. This is a 3-6+ month W2 contract opportunity with a flexible pay range of $55-80/hr, DOE.

Project Engineers are responsible for the efficient and reliable flow of material to the manufacturing lines. This includes the implementation and continuous improvement of automated material handling equipment such as automated storage systems, final assemble conveyance such as car bodies, batteries, and drive units etc. A senior engineer's role is to make sure that MFE system's designs meet goals and objectives.

Day to Day:

  • Work with automated material handling solutions to establish new and improved existing material flows throughout the factory. This includes material arrival at docks, delivery to line-side locations, material transport between internal manufacturing lines, buffer/storage systems, robotic material handling solutions. Solutions will handle a large variety of products such as car bodies, large commodities (tires, seats, fascia, doors*), powertrain parts (electric motor components), pallets/boxes/trays, individual battery cells
  • Work with 3rd party vendors on system build, integration, and testing
  • Responsible for specifying equipment in form of project specifications and requirements
  • Managing project scope, budget, timeline, and implementation
  • Lead the overall layout and system design process
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders and vendors about project status, critical items and priorities
  • Support troubleshooting during installation and start-up and responsible for handover to production teams
Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 8+ years of practical automated material handling and process equipment design experience in industries such as automotive, consumer goods/food and beverage manufacturing, distribution, and semiconductor
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • Experience with automation equipment and design processes around it
  • Ability to lead a project from concept through to installation and hand-over while working in a close-knit, team environment
  • Must understand the integration of equipment design into existing or new systems
  • Knowledge of and experience with material flow strategies and dynamic manufacturing systems
