Job Summary

The Lead Digital Communications Specialist is an integral member of the CenterPoint Energy Corporate Communications team and collaborates most closely with Customer Experience and Information Technology to maintain and enhance the company's external web platform. This role will have a focus on managing and publishing web content and interactive tools in support of company business objectives

Essential Functions




  • Providesoversight of, creates and updates web content and design using CenterPoint Energy's Web Content Management System (CMS).


  • Works with internal stakeholders to assist department personnel in understanding how to use the CMS.
  • Works with internal departments in developing effective communications on the CNP Internet site.
  • Works with IT in the development and testing of Web applications.
  • Oversees the implementation and maintenance of CNP's Web content and content-related functionality.
  • Works closely with internal content providers to place content on the web site, making edits and procuring final approval for publishing.
  • Serves as liaison between Communications team and Marketing, IT, Customer Experience and other CNP departments and works closely with these teams to ensure site and application usability.
  • Ensures adherence to CNP's Web style guides and brand standards
  • Monitors industry trends and provides ongoing recommendations for enhancements to the CNP Web site.
  • Develops and monitors the CMS architecture for content integrity.
  • Monitors site content and function for accuracy and recency.
  • Uses metrics and other analytics tools to inform strategy related user experience activity.
  • Monitors and troubleshoots Web performance, including testing at the site, channel and page level and pre-launch testing of new content and applications.
  • Effectively manages multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Serves on the emergency response communications team. May work extensive hours at CenterPoint Energy locations during a crisis response.




Education Description




  • Bachelor'sdegree in computer sciences or a communications area, such as journalism, communications, public relations or related area of study from an accredited college or university.





Experience



  • At least 7 years of web content management experience.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with a variety of content management applications.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a variety of concepts, practices, procedures, and technologies within the web field including HTML, Javascript, SQL, Mac, UNIX and Window platforms.
  • Able to complete a high volume of work with minimal supervision or editing.
  • Able to apply excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to prioritize and schedule tasks, pay attention to detail and demonstrate good time management.



Preferred Qualifications




  • Energysector and/or utility industry experience.


  • Experience within a matrix organization.
  • A creative, highly motivated, detail-oriented self-starter.
  • Able to work independently to accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Able to perform with poise under tight deadlines and shifting priorities; can successfully navigate fast-paced situations
  • Flexibility and adaptability.
  • Exceptional project and time management skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and active listening when communicating with customers, co-workers, contractors and the community.
  • Able to demonstrate effective oral and written communication skills.
