Manufacturing Engineering Intern - Assembly:

What you will do:

This internship is designed to provide you with a positive work/training experience and challenging objectives.

Specific identified internship responsibilities are outlined below.

The role is based in Lubbock, TX at the Johnson Controls sprinkler manufacturing facility.

The role is for part-time work when classes are in session and full-time work during summer recess.

How will you do it:

Identify safety, quality and productivity improvement opportunities. Interact with employees, maintenance and leadership team to understand plant focus and barriers to performance. Implement process changes and coordinate installation of new equipment. Support Lean, Six Sigma and Best Business Practices projects, including investigation, buy-in and roll out of projects completed across the division. Collaborate with Quality Control and manufacturing personnel to ensure that process and equipment produce a product that meets or exceeds Quality Control and Engineering Standards. Monitor new processes, including new equipment and tools, to ensure performance specifications are met before releasing new processes to production. Provide engineering counsel and assistance for correcting environmental or safety concerns. Implement improvement projects with financial accountability and on-time performance. Assure adherence to good housekeeping and safety practices with respect to all work performed. Present findings to local and regional management. Perform any other duties as assigned.

What we look for:

Currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university. Pursuing a degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering. Currently a sophomore or junior status (Senior's also heading into Senior year). Minimum 2.5 GPA (on a four point scale). High level of integrity. US citizen or legal right to work in the US.

Technical Required Experience:

Proficient in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks. Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel & PowerPoint. Strong communications skills (verbal and written). Project Management skills. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Understanding of Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies.
