PEMEX Deer Park is a highly complex refinery located 18 miles east of Houston in Deer Park, TX. It is part of the Pemex group, a fully integrated oil company in the Americas, working across the entire value chain: exploration, production, industrial processing/refining, logistics, and marketing. The refinery’s rated capacity is 340,000 barrels per day, and it has the feed flexibility to process multiple grades of crudes to produce the high-quality transportation fuels the world needs. The Pemex site is co-located with other 3rd party chemical facilities, allowing for further integration and optimization of the refinery and its products. As the Field Safety and Health Supervisor, you will lead a team of Field Safety Representatives and Health Department professionals to ensure the effective implementation and continuous improvement of key safety systems, including permit to work, confined space entry, lockout/tagout, hot work, and hazard communication. You will drive assurance activities, lead investigations into high-potential incidents and unsafe acts, and foster professional development within your team. You will manage site-wide safety training, support emergency preparedness and response efforts, and serve as the field liaison to the Emergency Operations Center. This role requires strong leadership, a solid grounding in human performance principles and behavior-based safety, and the flexibility to support extended hours during projects, turnarounds, or emergencies.

 

To succeed as the Field Safety & Health Supervisor, you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in safety, emergency response, industrial hygiene, or related fields with demonstrated experience integrating safety into cross-functional operations.
  • Proficiency in OSHA regulations, behavior-based safety, safety data analysis, and safety IT systems (e.g., electronic PtW, incident management software, SDS platforms).
  • ICS 100–800, HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120), with knowledge of NFPA, API, DOT, EPA, and other applicable standards.
  • Solid verbal and written English communication skills; ability to travel and work extended hours during major projects or emergencies.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Direct daily operations of Field Safety Representatives and Health Department staff, ensuring alignment with safety goals and coordination with medical providers.
  • Serve as SME for critical safety programs (e.g., Permit to Work, Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, HazCom), and assign SME roles within the team to maintain compliance and best practices.
  • Design, deliver, and oversee safety training programs; collaborate with Learning & Development and foster team growth in safety and emergency response.
  • Lead incident investigations, analyze safety data to identify trends, and implement improvements across operations.
  • Maintain OSHA 300 Log, engage with regulatory agencies, participate in the Joint Health & Safety Committee, and support cross-functional collaboration on safety initiatives.
