Seasonal Summer Camp Position

A. BASIC PURPOSE

The Dining Hall Manager/Leadership mentor is to provide leadership guidance for 4 to 8 minors
employed at camp, assisting them in their daily duties in specific areas of the camp (maintenance, dining hall, and program). Leading daily bible studies and discipleship, challenging them in their spiritual growth. Develop and implement activities and events, plus ensure that safety and appropriate supervision is provided at all times. Train and develop each individual, guiding them through a positive camping experience in harmony with the goals and objectives of Camp Del Oro.



  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan, prepare and implement a creative daily devotion for leadership program.
  • Assist peer leaders in planning devotions for their weekly devotions.
  • Plan and provide for break day activities of leadership staff.
  • Schedule a daily planning and prep period.
  • Ensure that the unit is supervised at all times in accordance with Camp Del Oro policies.
  • Prepare and implement weekly schedule.
  • Lead discussion and Bible study groups.
  • Assist the Program Director as needed.
  • Weekly evaluation of each leadership participant.
  • Complete and submit to the Program Director an "End of Summer Brief" with recommendations for the future. (Keep copy for future leadership reference)
  • All staff may be called upon at any time to assist in the total operation of the camp. All staff is expected to be involved in the total camp program. You are expected to join in all evening programs; absences are excused only through the Program Director.
  • * Supervise kitchen staff/49ers during Family Style Meals
    * Delegate tasks and duties during all Family Style Meals
    * Disinfect tabletops prior to each meal and wipe chairs.
    * Set tables -neatly and correctly.
    * Serving meals efficiently and courteously.
    * Serve nightly snacks for campers and clean up area afterwards.
    * Stock, wash and store dishes, scrub pots and pans
    * Sweep kitchen floor after every meal.
    * Take garbage outside for pick-up.
    * Sweep and mop entire floor after the evening meal.
    * Keep all kitchen and dining areas clean.
    * Keep all clothing and aprons neat and clean.
    * Report to dining area promptly at time assigned.
    * At no time enter the kitchen area. All items needed from the kitchen, stockroom, freezer, etc., will be requested from the kitchen staff.
    * Support all camp policies regarding health and safety of campers.
    * Maintain the Beverage Serving Area. Clean the coffee machines thoroughly
    * Instruct 49ers in proper table set-up for mealtimes
    * Assure the dining hall bathrooms are cleaned daily, re-stock paper products and soap.
    * Assure all windows in the dining hall complex are cleaned weekly or as needed. Clean windowsills
    * Responsible for alerting Camp Director of any equipment repairs needed in Dining Hall
    * Take meal counts for the USDA Summer Food Service Program each meal and snack time.
    * Give 49er staff guidance and training to assist in dish room and dining hall clean up.
    * Assure that clean up pans with sponges, spatulas, and trash bags are ready for each table at each meal.
    * Assure cleanliness of all dishwashing areas is maintained.
    * Assure kitchen floor is swept after each meal.
    * Assure the cook in an duties as requested in an order to maintain a high level of efficiency in the kitchen operation.
    * Maintain inventory of supplies as needed in this service: Order replacement supplies through the Office manager or Head Cook.
  • Clean and maintain all Bathhouses and restrooms throughout camp. Delegate and schedule all 49er staff to ensure camp restrooms are clean and sanitary at all times.
  • * Clean, disinfect and stock all bathrooms daily.
    * Sweep outside porches and walkways daily.
    * Wash porches and walkways as needed.
    * Empty trash containe*s daily.
    * Keep grounds in order.
    * Lay evening campfire.
    * Sweep and clean amphitheater in preparation for evening programs.
  • * Attend and particrpate in evening programs and spiritual day activities
    * Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters.
    * Assist with the clean up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer.
