Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a Director, Operations Medical Group. The Director of Operations collaborates with aligned Corewell Health East Medical Group Physician Executives, Corewell Health East Medical Group supports departments, (including operations, quality, finance, compensation, coding, and revenue cycle), hospital and post-acute leaders to advance financial, quality, experience (patient/physician/employee), operational efficiency and system growth efforts for the designated service line. This role is accountable for day-to-day operations, integrating system support services, business planning, pro forma development, contract and labor management, provider compensation planning, engagement and directing opportunity assessment and variance resolutions to achieve network and division goals.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Essential Functions

  • Growth -manages strategic planning and new site implementation, recruitment activities, department compensation plans, and physician contracting. Serves as a liaison between BMG and various hospital and system leadership in accomplishing system and division goals.

  • Finance - accountable for assigned P&L, development and achievement of department P&L and capital budgets.

  • Operations - accountable for operational efficiency assessment and action planning, revenue cycle oversight, front office revenue cycle performance, labor productivity and management, Monitors key performance indicators and other operational reports with key stakeholders. Accountable for validation of professional billing and coordination of IT needs.

  • Compensation - acts as the primary contact for setting contract terms and renewals with physicians and hospital partners. Collaborates with Compensation, divisional and department leadership on matters pertaining to compensation, provider productivity, contract terms, revenue cycle, and operational issues that directly impact employed physicians.

  • Safety/Quality - accountable for regulatory preparedness, facilitating a culture focused on safety/quality, Just Culture, committee reporting, deploying processes and structure related to achieving clinical/safety/quality initiatives.

  • Experience - accountable for leading a culture of service focused on maximizing patient/family, physician and employee engagement and team member retention rates. Utilizes tools and system resources to achieve top decile outcomes.

  • Planning - initiates business development and recruitment activities in partnership with Vice President and system leaders; manages the process of obtaining budgetary approval for new physician additions. Understand the role of each legacy function, including accounting/finance, payroll, HR, and operational leadership. Collaborates closely with system leaders, recruitment, onboarding, system planning and service line leadership. Provides recommendation and leads practice onboarding/offboarding initiatives.

  • Talent Management and Performance Management - Leads employee and leadership development efforts for assigned service line focused on identifying key talent for internal career growth. Oversees the hiring and management of regional practice administrators. Performs duties such as interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation and mentoring/coaching.

  • Physician Engagement and Retention - researches and recommends processes to enhance relationships with physicians. Creates best in class relation strategies. Communicates directly with physician and executive leadership regarding problem identification and resolution. Ensures proper follow through takes place on outstanding items. Works in collaboration with physician and administrative senior leadership to execute the strategic plan.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree Healthcare, Business Administration or related field. Required

  • 7 years of relevant experience related health care experience Required

  • 3 years of relevant experience in a leadership role Required

Preferred

  • Master's Degree Healthcare, Business Administration or related field. Preferred

  • Fellow of American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) - ACHE American College of Healthcare Executives preferred
