LABORATORY SUPERVISOR PULMON SLEEP LAB

ThePulmonary Medicine Sleep Lab Technical Supervisorworks in collaboration with the Director of the sleep lab and Administrator to plan, direct and evaluate technical staff patient care and technical support services. The Technical Supervisor is responsible for the daily management of technical services and supervision of all technical staff members. Other responsibilities include oversight and delegation of QA for all technical and research support functions, clinical policy development and review, and ensuring compliance with AASM standards and CMS technical regulations. The lab supervisor will also be responsible for the maintenance of a healthy work environment and participation with the Program Director, Medical Director, and Clinical Administrator in the development and administration of goals and objectives within the division. Train and perform all duties of Registered Polysomnographer /Sleep Technologist and clerical office staff, as needed. This position may require coverage of overnight shifts on an emergency basis due to staff shortage.

Responsibilities include but not limited to

Performs all supervisory duties related to the Pulmonary Sleep Lab technical staff members

In conjunction with the Administrative and Sleep Lab Director, ensures QA reports are completed to ensure

compliance with CMS regulations and AASM accreditation standards.

Promotes multi-disciplinary quality improvement program that incorporates patient care standards and meets CMS and AAMS regulations.

Organizes and completes projects per timeline.

Score sleep studies, Format system generated Preliminary reports when needed and assign studies to respective interpreting physicians for final interpretation.

Promotes open and effective communication among staff, patients, and providers.

Develops and implements an ongoing process for problem-solving that includes input from all staff, management, physicians and NPPs.

Develop and manage the scheduling of technical staff to ensure adequate coverage for all sleep studies.

Coordinate and accommodate time-off requests while maintaining operational efficiency and ensuring patient care is not compromised.

Monitor staffing levels and adjust schedules as needed to meet the demands of the sleep lab.

Requirements

Bachelors degree in Polysomnography required

Five to ten years experience working as a registered polysomnographic technologist (RPGST) with at least three years as a supervisor.

Maintain CPR/BCLS certification required

Board Certification of Polysomnographer (RPSGT) required

NY State License for polysomnographer required

Knowledge of direct patient care and technical support aspects in an outpatient sleep lab setting.

Demonstrated knowledge of sleep recordings, equipment use, maintenance and repair of both analog and digital polysomnographic (PSG) equipment.

Knowledge of Nihon Koden PSG equipment preferred.

Must be knowledgeable of AASM standards and CMS technical regulations.
