Published since 1981, Health Affairs is read by federal, state, and local policymakers, health industry leaders, and academics in fields such as health economics, medicine, public health, and political science.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Health Affairs is seeking support for its social media program. The Social Media Copywriter will draft social media content that promotes the monthly journal, as well as key initiatives or programs coming from the organization. They will be responsible for scheduling content into Sprout Social and making any revisions that come from Health Affairs staff. The ideal candidate should have experience writing about academic journal content or have written about health policy. This role will be part-time and anticipated through the end of the year.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Social Media Writing - Write social media content for X, Facebook, and LinkedIn to promote Health Affairs' journal articles published each month. Schedule content in Sprout Social along with images; and incorporate the revisions provided by Health Affairs staff.
  • Social Content & Management - Social media maintenance, two times per week including review of mentions and replies. Make recommendations on engagement and response.
  • Guidance - Keep team up to date on changes in social media best practices as needed. Make recommendations for how to refine Health Affairs social media approach within existing resources.
  • Other duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, digital PR/Communications OR Bachelor's degree in a health-related field with relevant digital PR / Communications experience
  • 5+ years' professional experience
  • Strong writing, editing, research and fact-checking, sourcing/crediting skills a must. Responsible for projecting the voice of Health Affairs, highest standards of excellence are essential.
  • Highly proficient in using a standard social media management tool. Health Affairs uses Sprout Social, but other social media scheduling tools are acceptable.
  • Knowledge of different specifications and format requirements for social media platforms
  • Proven experience experience with attracting, growing, and engaging digital audiences


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience working in a health care, health policy or social science context is strongly preferred. Experience writing non-partisan social media content.
