The person selected for this role will be responsible for the strategic direction, development, and execution of integrated marketing and communications programs that support City of Hope National Medical Center in Los Angeles. The position dual reports to City of Hope's System Chief Marketing Officer, aligning local marketing efforts with broader institutional objectives. This role also partners with the Los Angeles Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to drive strategic growth, patient engagement, and brand awareness. This role oversees local external communications, public affairs, brand management, advertising, events, visitor services, and emergency/crisis communications in partnership with the City of Hope System Chief Communications Officer.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Create and implement the strategic marketing and communications direction to support the growth and brand recognition of City of Hope Los Angeles.
  • Develop and execute data-driven marketing campaigns to drive patient engagement and referrals.
  • Plan, manage, and place strategic brand assets that enhance awareness of City of Hope Los Angeles among patients, referring physicians, and consumers.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including physicians, business partners, and leadership teams, ensuring alignment in marketing efforts.
  • Oversee local external communications efforts, including executive speeches, media outreach, white papers, Op-Eds, and public relations strategies in partnership with the System Communications team.
  • Drive regional and local media recognition for key clinical programs to support growth goals in patient acquisition and volume.
  • Serve as spokesperson for City of Hope Los Angeles when required.
  • Work with internal teams to develop and implement crisis communication plans as needed.
  • Engage in strategic relationship building with healthcare-related stakeholders and media outlets.
  • Implement City of Hope's brand strategy, architecture, and guidelines, ensuring all marketing aligns with system-wide brand standards.
  • Oversee brand consistency across internal and external communications, including messaging, graphics, and creative standards.
  • Manage the City of Hope Los Angeles section of the website; ensure all digital communication tools are optimized for marketing and engagement.
  • Oversee digital marketing initiatives, including SEO, social media strategy, and content development to enhance patient acquisition.
  • Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and vision to the marketing and communications team.
  • Promote a collaborative, results-driven environment, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and objectives.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Ten (10) years relevant experience in relevant aspects of marketing, communications, and government relations, including five years in the health care arena and preferably at an academic medical center.
  • Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional teams and working with senior executives
  • Recognized leader with deep experience in health care marketing and communications arena preferred
