Department Summary

The University Library IT Services oversees all computing hardware and software in support of the UNT Libraries - This encompasses general purpose computing lab resources for UNT student research and academic success, infrastructure in support of digital archiving and preservation initiatives, as well as server and application resources in support of Library Librarians and Staff.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of Library endpoint computing devices. Duties include:
* Analyzing systems and software
* Packaging and deploying software applications
* Ensuring applications are up to date
* Ensuring operating systems are up to date
* Ensuring all endpoints conform to University Information Security Policies
* Providing 2nd-tier support for the Libraries computer systems and resources
* Developing scripts or programs to automate tasks or solve problems.
* Maintain and manage print queues for the Student Computer Lab and Library Staff
* Collaborates with peers across the UNT System to implement solutions to campus and system wide initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and four years of related computing work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prior experience with specific systems, equipment and software may be specified as needed by department. Considerable knowledge of principles of computing and/or communications networks, and characteristics of computing hardware and software used in distributed environments. Ability to supervise and train subordinates. Ability to operate computer keyboards and to install computer hardware. Ability to assimilate, retain, and utilize technical and applications oriented information.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Experience with Microsoft: Intune, Intune Application Packaging Autopilot, SCCM, Active Directory, GPO
* Experience with Apple: JAMF, Config Profiles, Apple package format, Mobile Device Management
* Shells & Scripting: PowerShell, BASH, ZSH
* In depth knowledge managing Windows 11 workstations in enterprise environments

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties:



  • This position is responsible for the Operating System provisioning and upkeep of the Libraries workstations, maintenance of desktop applications, and configuration of the end user experience.
  • This position interfaces with the Libraries helpdesk to provide process instruction and Tier 2 technical support.
  • This position maintains Library computing resources (servers, workstations, etc...) in accordance with University security policies.
  • Prepares and maintains documentation for managed systems. Documentation is kept up to date and pertinent to current setup.
  • Executes special projects as assigned by management.
