Leroy Somer Americas (dba Division of Nidec Motor Corporation) is seeking a Principal Buyer for its offices in Lexington, TN

Place purchase orders with vendors to ensure proper materials supply to meet daily production needs. Provide key vendors with forecasts updated regularly (at least monthly) to ensure appropriate supply of needed materials. Use the Oracle MRP module to optimize inventory turns and release purchase orders to vendors with the required lead times. Ensure all safety stocks, lead times, and minimum order quantities are correct in Oracle, adjusting accordingly as demand changes. Manage all open and past due purchase orders within Oracle using the Open / Late Orders report. Manage all exceptions, pull-ins, and push-outs, and delete orders as needed. Proactively communicate with suppliers regarding supply needs, shortages, pricing, and invoicing issues. Provide monthly feedback to key vendors on quality and on-time delivery metrics. Review raw material and excess Inventory each week to help reduce any slow-moving and excess inventory issues. Make recommendations regarding excess and obsolete materials. Ensure proper raw material costs are maintained within Oracle for standard costing purposes. Support inventory-on-hand accuracy improvement projects by working with production departments, engineering, and stockroom associates to correct bill of material issues and maintain accurate inventory-on-hand reporting. Maintain correct item setups in Oracle, planner codes, price costs, lead times, sourcing rules, etc., to ensure efficient use of Oracle MRP. Support Strategic Sourcing projects and initiatives as required. Providing cost savings ideas regularly. Maintain the highest standards of integrity and maintain honest, fair, and legal relationships with all vendors. Support Buyer I, Buyer II & Buyer III with training and instruction as requested. Seen as a leader and expert in responsibility with a proven record of success in daily job functions. Additional duties assigned by the department manager as required by business needs. The position requires up to ten (10) percent domestic and international travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or the foreign equivalent* in Business Administration, International Business, or a related field and seven (7) years of progressive experience in a materials, purchasing, or inventory occupation. The experience must include:

  • Seven (7) years of experience in inventory management, planning, and purchasing within a high-volume manufacturing environment;
  • Seven (7) years of experience utilizing Oracle Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) or equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system for inventory management, planning, and purchasing processes;
  • Seven (7) years of experience in Microsoft Excel, including the capability to create and automate macros and generate detailed reports;
  • Seven (7) years of experience in Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint for effective communication and presentation;
  • Two (2) years of experience mentoring and training junior-level buyers, fostering their professional growth and development; and
  • Two (2) years of experience collaborating within a team-oriented environment, consistently offering support and encouragement to achieve collective goals.

*Any combination of education that has been evaluated by a professional credentials evaluation service to be the equivalent of a U.S. degree will be accepted.
