Position Summary: The Onboarding and Talent Acquisition Coordinator for Davidson College Dining is responsible for managing the end-to-end recruitment process and ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for all new Dining Associates. This role plays a crucial part in attracting, hiring, and retaining high-quality talent while ensuring that the new hires are effectively integrated into the Davidson College Dining team. The ideal candidate will be skilled in recruitment, onboarding, Team engagement, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Key Responsibilities: Talent Acquisition:
- Develop and Execute Recruitment Strategies:
- Partner with Davidson College Dining leadership to understand staffing needs and develop targeted recruitment plans for both full-time and part-time roles.
- Build a pipeline of talent for various dining positions, including front-of-house staff, culinary professionals, supervisors, and management roles.
- Leverage various recruiting platforms such as job boards, social media, university career centers, and job fairs to attract high-quality candidates.
- Conduct Candidate Screening and Interviews:
- Review applications and resumes, conduct initial phone screenings, and schedule interviews with hiring managers.
- Coordinate and conduct interviews, ensuring candidates meet the required qualifications for various dining service positions.
- Monitor recruitment KPIs such as time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, retention rates, and candidate satisfaction to optimize talent acquisition efforts.
- Manage the Offer and Hiring Process:
- Facilitate background checks, reference checks, and employment verification for potential hires.
- Extend job offers, negotiate terms of employment, and ensure smooth transitions for new hires into the organization.
- Ensure all hiring and onboarding documentation is up to date and in compliance with organizational and legal requirements.
- Serve as a point of contact for new hires, addressing any questions or concerns throughout the onboarding process and ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
- Collaborate with Managers:
- Work closely with Davidson College Dining managers to understand ongoing staffing needs and ensure that open positions are filled in a timely manner.
- Report on recruitment activities, employee onboarding progress, and any challenges or successes to the HR and dining leadership teams
- Provide insights and updates on recruiting progress and share recommendations for improving talent acquisition strategies.
Onboarding:
- Coordinate New Hire Onboarding Process:
- Develop and manage the onboarding process for all new hires, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience from the first day with partnership and oversight with the HR team.
- Organize and facilitate new employee orientations, ensuring that all dining staff members are well-versed in College policies, dining standards, safety regulations, and operational procedures with partnership and oversight with the HR team.
- Training and Development:
- In partnership with Dining Services leadership, ensure that all new hires receive the appropriate training required for their specific role, including but not limited to food safety, customer service, POS systems
- Partner with Dining Services department heads to schedule on-the-job training and mentoring for new employees to ensure they are fully equipped to perform their duties.
- Track and ensure completion of mandatory training, certifications, and ongoing professional development.
- Maintain Compliance:
- Ensure that all required documentation for new hires (e.g., employment forms, certifications, and work authorizations) are accurately collected and maintained in accordance with legal and company policies with partnership and oversight with the HR team.
Employee Retention and Engagement:
- Support Retention Initiatives:
- Monitor employee engagement and retention metrics, providing actionable insights and proposed recommendations for leadership to reduce turnover and improve job satisfaction.
- Facilitate stay interviews, exit interviews, and employee feedback mechanisms to understand challenges and opportunities for improvement in the Davidson College Dining workforce.
- Foster a Positive Workplace Culture:
- Promote and support initiatives that drive a positive and inclusive workplace environment within Davidson College Dining, including employee recognition programs and team-building activities.
Key Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- 2 years' of related experience in recruitment, talent acquisition, or human resources, preferably within hospitality.
- Experience with high-volume recruitment and onboarding in a fast-paced environment is highly desired.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with diverse groups of candidates and employees.
- Proficiency in Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) example indeed / Oracle and other HR software.
- Familiarity with labor laws and employment regulations, particularly in the foodservice industry.
- Ability to work collaboratively with team members and stakeholders at all levels.
- Must be able to work well with all levels of employees, be flexible in nature, have sound judgment with an open and collaborative style that encourages teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization.
