Job Description

About The Position |

The Transaction team at Dotdash Meredith is looking for an editor to cover news and deals for PEOPLE Shopping. This person will edit timely shopping stories about the best sales and deals on the internet, what celebrities are wearing and using, new launches to know about now, and product reviews, among other things, from staff writers and freelancers. They'll also track and analyze story performance to inform editorial decisions.

Throughout the year, they'll assist with executing coverage for large sale events, such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday, plus holiday weekends. As needed, they'll also write stories, as well as copy for newsletters and other off-platform promotions.

The ideal candidate should have past editing and commerce experience, be a creative and quick problem solver, and have a passion for surfacing the best products and prices to a curious audience. This job requires both analytical and editorial skills to ensure our content is accurate, inclusive, comprehensive, and accessible to all readers. Knowledge of celebrities, pop culture, sales trends, and AP style is a plus.

This is a full-time position with a hybrid in office schedule.

The day-to-day:

  • Edit shopping stories alongside a dedicated team of full-time editors and writers.

  • Track and use performance data to adjust editorial strategy and programming efforts.

  • Identify new coverage opportunities based on seasonality, trends, celebrity finds, product reviews, and more by utilizing our team's analytics tools, relationships with public relations agencies, and resources like Google Trends, Instagram, and TikTok.

  • Occasionally assist in our testing process by evaluating products at home and in your day-to-day life.

  • Attend team meetings on a weekly and monthly basis.
