Parker Meggitt, a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Simi Valley, CA, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier in select energy markets, particularly in nuclear gas analyzers and nuclear containment vessel penetration cables. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Lockheed Martin, among others.

Test Technician (FAA Safety Sensitive)

Position Summary:

Under minimum supervision will perform test functions per Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP's) using meters, scopes, and other general/special test equipment to validate the performance of the product. This will require the accurate recording of test data and verification of pass/reject criteria. Will complete complex test set ups as required by procedures. Perform detailed and sometimes complicated troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical systems to determine cause. Some computer transactions are required for closing out work orders, entering Material Reject Reports (MRR), write formal failure analysis and be familiar with e-mail. Will conduct routine engineering tests and detailed experimental testing. Provide training to other technicians and aid in troubleshooting with other departments. Redline incorrect procedures and coordinate with engineering to get corrected. The Test Technician will be performing, ready to perform, or eligible to perform safety-sensitive work and therefore will be part of the OECO LLC Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. The Program includes random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Sets up test equipment and tests per specification
  • Performs troubleshooting and failure analysis of analog and digital circuitry malfunctions to the component level
  • Provides detailed written failure description with root cause analysis to production and engineering
  • Follows written and verbal instructions, adheres to all company guidelines, policies and procedures
  • Assists other departments with tasks in other production cells/locations
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment, an acceptable safety record and follows company safety rules
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Skilled in the use of test equipment, hand tools, power tools and electric soldering
  • Good reading and comprehension skills to understand regulations and instructions
  • Ability to analyze and determine methods and procedures
  • Good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient Microsoft Windows software applications

Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma is required for this position.

Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field are a plus

Years Experience: 2 or more years of relevant work experience that will allow successful performance of the job.
