Position Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer III is a highly experienced role that is responsible for designing, implementing, and reviewing manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment in one or more facilities. Oversees and optimizes fabrication of components for new and existing Parker products. Identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives and drive operational excellence. Develops advanced manufacturing techniques, testing new systems and methods for efficiency, and planning assembly layouts to optimize production, quality, cost, and safety. Works with processes that involve tank plating and automated assembly processes. May be responsible for developing and deploying large capital projects.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities for direct or indirect reports

Responsibilities:

  • Manufacturing Process Flow - Plans and designs complex and advanced manufacturing processes to improve the manufacture and assembly of new and existing products. Determines equipment and tooling needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product and quality specifications.
  • Process owner for bronze tank plating - Maintains and controls plating bath chemistry to meet quality and production standards. Develops and implements plating process instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Provide technical support and training to operators and team members on plating techniques and safety protocols.
  • Responsible for overseeing outside processes during fabrication - Ensures all outsourced processes comply with engineering specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements. Monitors vendor performance and resolve any issues related to quality or delivery in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for automated assembly - Maintains, standardizes, and improves the automated assembly of two components through deformation.
  • Assist with plant fabrication processes - Serves as backup support for fabrication processes within the plant to maintain smooth production flow.
  • Process Improvement - Develops and implements process improvement projects that focus on manufacturing efficiency, material yield, safety, and cost. Leads teams in large scope process improvement initiatives.
  • Engineering Design Support - Recommends design concepts for engineering leadership regarding concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Creates fixtures as needed to ensure product is fabricated in a safe, efficient way and meets quality standards.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Ensures complex processes and procedures comply with regulations for multiple solution lines. Applies frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
  • Remediation - Investigates and takes corrective action to ensure product quality and resolve quality issues.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related Engineering field with 5-8 years of experience
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to apply concepts of engineering to multiple solution lines
  • Ability to apply a systematic, disciplined, and analytical approach to problem solving of sophisticated scope and complexity
  • Effectively apply continuous improvement methods to quality and manufacturing functions (e.g. pull systems, process mapping, JIT)
  • Ability to work effectively with CAD/CAM systems or other computer aided manufacturing systems, in addition to standard business application software and/ or specialized data analysis tools (Experience with CATIA Software preferred)
  • Ability to develop new procedures to solve problems
  • Ability to read and understand complex engineering drawings and specifications
  • Advanced knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Ability to research and analyze data effectively and draw valid conclusions use formal problem-solving processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
  • Strong prioritization skills
  • Strong computer skills, including mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and web-browsers
  • Creates and revises manufacturing processes using MES system (Experience with Solumina preferred)
  • Interacts with mechanics to solve daily manufacturing issues and dispositions discrepancy reports
  • Experience with bronze plating preferred
  • Experience with PLC programing preferred
  • Knowledge of Kawasaki, Fanuc, ABB, and/or UR robots preferred.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc Controls, M Code, G Code, and Allen-Bradly controls preferred
  • Experience in an Aerospace field preferred
