Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Insurance Specialist. This position can be based in our Legal Department in our Chicago, IL, Lakewood, CO, Columbia, MD office or one of our other U.S based offices with the potential to work remotely at the discretion of the Company. This position will have a primary responsibility for managing the portfolio of commercial insurance for our Company. The position will be instrumental in supporting the day-to-day operations of Geosyntec by helping our project teams be responsive to our client's needs. Qualified candidates for this role need a strong working knowledge of commercial insurance products (professional liability, commercial general liability, auto liability, cyber liability, etc.). A working knowledge of captive insurance programs would be advantageous.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Work closely with General Counsel to track, manage and renew Geosyntec's commercial insurance program.
  • Facilitate the company's leadership's and project managers' understanding of the insurance coverage maintained by the company and help in making decisions and recommendations on coverage updates.
  • Collaborate with General Counsel and company leadership to review exposures and insurance program, determine if carrier is the best fit for the client while considering coverage, protection, and cost.
  • Collaborate with insurance broker to market, quote, and prepare the proposal for the client from both a risk management and insurance prospective to decide upon the "best" way to manage the company's risk.
  • Provide day-to-day service to the company's practitioners, anticipate project insurance needs, and respond to issues/questions in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and collaborate with insurance brokers to address issues, respond to questions and ensure necessary insurance is in place.
  • Track and process premium payments, insurance audits and assessments.
  • Request certificates of insurance and review for accuracy.
  • Manage board material for captive insurance program, review monthly loss runs, and support annual premium audits.
  • Maintain insurance records.
  • Keeps customers up to date on "pending changes" in the insurance world that may impact their insurance coverage.
  • Provide timely, professional, accurate communication to client, team, carrier representatives and

  • Assist project teams in obtaining surety bonds and project-specific insurance policies.
  • Facilitate the acquisition of and manage customs and temporary import bonds for goods and equipment imported to the U.S. from our Canadian divisions for projects.


Education and Licensure

  • A Bachelor's degree's degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, or related degree and 3 years (5+ preferred) commercial insurance experience as an insurer, broker and/or insured's risk management department or seven (7) years of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the responsibilities of the position.   • Experience renewing commercial insurance program on behalf of a business is strongly preferred.
  • High degree of critical thinking; ability to solve problems when the answer is not readily apparent. (required)

  • Ability to adapt well to change in direction and priority in a fast-paced environment. (required)
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced level proficiency with a variety of technology including MS Office. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $77,720/year / Maximum Salary: $129,745 /year (Columbia, MD, Chicago, IL, Lakewood, CO)
