Job Summary
Lightpath is seeking a Director of Analytics, Reporting, and GIS Fiber Mapping, reporting to the Area Vice President, to lead a team specializing in data analytics, business intelligence, and GIS development, maintenance, and customization. This role will bridge gaps between business units including fiber network design, finance, software development, and executive leadership to deliver both real-time and scalable long-term solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of professionals to develop customized tools and reporting solutions based on business needs.
- Provide engineering tool support for conduit, dark fiber, and broadband network projects using ESRI ArcGIS Pro and IQGeo software.
- Establish and enforce GIS design standards across internal and external design teams.
- Collaborate with OSP Fiber Engineering and GIS development teams to enhance tools supporting network engineering and construction.
- Develop standardized processes for intake, review, and implementation of development requests.
- Engage directly with stakeholders to understand reporting and dashboard needs, and guide the team to exceed expectations.
- Prepare specifications, plans, cost estimates, and reports for fiber routes and capital projects using historical data, custom inputs, and automation to support organizational scaling.
- Oversee data integration and validation in ArcGIS Pro and IQGeo, ensuring as-built accuracy and project closeouts.
- Maintain geospatial inventories of fiber assets, including capacity and operational status, through methods such as API integration with other systems.
- Partner with Construction and Splice teams to produce detailed OSP fiber design maps and facilitate data exchange between systems to meet business needs.
- Ensure all systems reflect accurate as-built data through drawings and electronic data capture.
- Analyze fiber capacity trends and recommend proactive maintenance or upgrades.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Data Analytics, GIS, Public Administration, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or GIS, including at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
- Proven experience developing and implementing enterprise data and GIS strategies.
- Strong background in data architecture, analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and GIS tools (e.g., Esri ArcGIS, QGIS).
- Experience with data governance, cloud-based analytics, and system integration projects.
- Strategic thinker with strong leadership and project management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and spatial databases (e.g., PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).
- Knowledge of modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Databricks).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proven experience in fiber optic cable design and splicing documentation.
- Ability to interpret survey data, maps, aerial imagery, and geographic datasets for network design.
- Familiarity with underground and aerial fiber construction methods.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Strong collaboration and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and GIS software tools.
- Hybrid remote/office-based with occasional travel or fieldwork required.
