Job Summary

TheManager, Investor Relations (IR) is a key role within the Finance Department and is responsible for managing and enhancing relationships with the investment community, including shareholders, analysts, current, and potential investors. This individual serves as one of the key spokespersons for CenterPoint Energy's financial and strategic positioning, ensuring transparent and consistent communication aligned with corporate objectives and regulatory expectations.

The Director will collaborate closely with executive leadership, finance, legal, corporate communications, and sustainability teams to deliver investor messaging that supports the company's long-term value creation and performance in the energy and utilities sector

Essential Functions

Investor Communication & Strategy



  • Help develop and execute a comprehensive investor relations strategy aligned with the company's financial goals, sustainability vision, and growth plans.
  • Serve as a primary contact for institutional investors and sell-side analysts; foster strong and transparent relationships through regular engagement and responsiveness.
  • Take a lead role in the development and delivery of quarterly earnings calls, investor presentations, investor days, and conferences.
  • Proactively monitor market and industry trends, investor sentiments, peer company activity, and macroeconomic indicators to provide insights to senior management and influence strategic decisions.


Financial Disclosure & Messaging



  • Partner with finance, legal, and communications teams to ensure the accuracy and consistency of financial disclosures, press releases, investor materials, and SEC filings (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K).
  • Prepare executive team for investor interactions, including earnings calls, roadshows, and conferences by drafting talking points, Q&A documents, and strategic messaging.
  • Translate complex financial and operational metrics into clear, concise narratives tailored for investor audiences.


Market Intelligence & Stakeholder Reporting



  • Conduct competitive benchmarking and capital market analysis, including tracking stock performance, analyst ratings, and investor perceptions.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with actionable insights based on investor feedback and industry developments.
  • Coordinate with sustainability and ESG teams to communicate CenterPoint's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and performance to stakeholders.


Governance & Compliance



  • Ensure all investor communications are compliant with SEC regulations, including Reg FD (Fair Disclosure)
  • Work closely with legal counsel on all disclosure-related matters and shareholder engagements, especially during proxy season or shareholder proposals.


Leadership & Team Collaboration



  • Manage or oversee IR staff, agencies, and consultants where applicable.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the company's culture, values, and commitment to integrity and transparency.
  • Collaborate with the corporate communications team to align internal and external messaging, especially around financial and ESG-related announcements.



Education Description




  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field (MBA, CFA preferred).


  • Strong knowledge of SEC reporting requirements, GAAP principles.



Experience




  • 5-7years of progressive experience in investor relations, corporate finance, equity research, investment banking, or a related discipline.


  • Experience in the energy, utilities, or infrastructure sector is strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of capital markets, financial statements, and valuation methodologies.
  • Proficient in financial modeling, analytics platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, S&P Capital IQ), and investor relations tools.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build trust at all organizational levels
