Electrical Engineer Analyst - Connectivity

Description

Role Summary:

This person will be serving as the in-market technical expert for currently fielded connectivity modules within the US and Canada markets. They will work closely with the local engineering teams, and also with their counterparts in Germany to serve as the key bridge between the two continents, and to be the local on-site expert for the connectivity module, including specification, in-depth analysis and troubleshooting, test activities, and support of fielded systems.

Role Responsibilities:

On-Site Resident Connectivity Engineer - (80%)



  • Tests and analyses connectivity module performance, SW readiness, and tracks core issues with the connectivity unit, MNOs, backends, service platforms, and customer interfaces.
  • Creates, Tracks and Analyzes failure reports, assessing cause and following up with suppliers to ensure resolution
  • Investigates root causes of system issues, and determines next steps
  • Uses in-depth system knowledge to engineer solutions to challenging implementation issues


Support for Chattanooga Factory Issues - (10%)



  • Supports with analysis of infotainment topics during pre-series and series programs at the Chattanooga Factory


Field Error Analysis - (10%)



  • Supports with analysis of customer connectivity topics


Qualifications

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:



  • 3-5 years of related engineering experience


Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent - required
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering - desired


Skills:



  • SW Architecture and Function Design and Development
  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Integration - joining people, processes or systems
  • Influencing and negotiation skills
  • Resource management
  • German skills written and verbal are advantageous


Specialized Skills - Required:



  • Experience developing connectivity modules, mobile phones, and connected devices
  • Experience with developing infotainment systems, architectures, and system interconnects
  • Experience specifying SW Architectures and Features
  • Experience in connected services and connected application development
  • Understanding of vehicle communication networks and the ability to capture and analyze communication traces


Specialized Skills - Desired:



  • Experience with developing automotive infotainment control module functionalities
  • Experience releasing full vehicle electrical systems (module and functional design approval)
  • Experience integrating new SW Functionalities into a connected environment
  • Experience with Volkswagen infotainment control modules


Work Flexibility:



  • Travel to the suppliers and the R&D departments in Germany
