Job Summary:

Join an elite mission at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Charleston, SC, and Joint Base Charleston, where your dedication to cleanliness and safety will help sustain a secure and high-performance environment for our nation's future protectors. As a Janitor on DAWSON's facilities maintenance team, you'll be responsible for maintaining sanitary, presentable, and mission-ready conditions across a wide range of federal training, administrative, and housing facilities-ensuring that the complex operates efficiently, safely, and with professionalism.

Location: Charleston, SC

Responsibilities:

• 
  

  Clean and sanitize offices, classrooms, restrooms, dormitories, dining areas, and high-traffic public spaces in accordance with established schedules and federal health standards.

  
  
• 
  

  Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors, furniture, and fixtures using approved cleaning solutions and equipment.

  
  
• 
  

  Empty and disinfect trash receptacles and recycling containers; transport waste to appropriate disposal locations.

  
  
• 
  

  Restock restrooms and breakrooms with paper products, soap, and other supplies.

  
  
• 
  

  Clean interior glass, doorways, and light fixtures, and report any maintenance issues (e.g., leaks, broken locks, safety hazards).

  
  
• 
  

  Secure cleaning supplies and chemicals in designated areas; follow all safety protocols including proper labeling and use of PPE.

  
  
• 
  

  Support special event cleanup and respond to emergency custodial needs (e.g., spills, biohazards, storm-related issues).

  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  

  Minimum of 1 year of janitorial or custodial experience in a commercial, institutional, or federal setting.

  
  
• 
  

  Knowledge of cleaning methods, sanitation practices, and safe chemical handling procedures.

  
  
• 
  

  Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision and adhere to strict cleanliness and timeliness standards.

  
  
• 
  

  Physically capable of lifting up to 40 lbs., operating cleaning equipment, and standing or walking for long periods.

  
  
• 
  

  Must be dependable, detail-oriented, and able to maintain confidentiality in secure environments.

  
  

Additional Requirements:

• 
  

  Must follow DAWSON and FLETC safety policies for chemical usage, PPE, and custodial procedures.

  
  
• 
  

  Participation in rotating schedules, night shifts, and weekend cleaning operations may be required.
