REQUIREMENTS - CHEMISTRY APPRENTICE III
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
* This position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
* The Apprentice III requires: 1) one year experience as an Apprentice II in Chemistry or 2) 7 years experience in a technical capacity or 3) a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science field.
* Relevant technical capacity is defined as experience in a lab performing sampling and analysis.
* Relevant science field is defined as chemistry, biology, physics, etc.
COGNITIVE SKILLS (language, mathematics, reasoning):
* This position requires the ability to: read and interpret documents such as procedures, safety rules, pre-job briefs and radiation work permits (RWPs); write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
* This position requires the ability to: apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations; apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
* This position requires the ability to: apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems; deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.) in its most difficult phases; deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
NOISE:
* This position requires the ability to work in moderately noisy environments.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
* This position requires performance of duties as a member of the Emergency Response Organization.

REQUIREMENTS - INTERMEDIATE AND JOURNEYMAN CHEMISTRY TECHNICIAN
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Regulatory Requirements:
Regulatory Requirement: Tech Spec 5.3.1 [ANSI/ANS 3.1-1978] (underlined words are defined in referenced ANSI standard). Please contact Licensing prior to deviating from these requirements or if you have questions.
* The individuals fulfilling the function of journeyman level Chemistry Technicians shall satisfy at least one of the following two requirements:
Requirement 1:
* Three years working experience in the field of chemistry, of which one year should be related technical training.
Requirement 2:
* Five years experience in chemistry, of which one year shall be in radiochemistry at an operating nuclear power plant. Two years of this five years experience shall be related technical training. A maximum of four years of this five years experience may be fulfilled by related technical or academic training.
Additional WCNOC Requirements:
* The Intermediate Chemistry Technician requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent and/or an Associate Degree and/or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science field with two years nuclear power experience qualified in Chemistry and/or Radiochemistry.
* A Journeyman Chemistry Technician requires one year experience as an Apprentice III in Chemistry.
* Relevant science field is defined as chemistry, biology, physics, etc.
COGNITIVE SKILLS (language, mathematics, reasoning):
* This position requires the ability to: read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from managers or other departments.
* This position requires the ability to: apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations; apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
