This position is required to be on standby as scheduled and work irregular hours when required.
Position Summary: Install and maintain electricity metering and recording devices to ensure compliance with the accuracy standards set by LCEC and relevant regulatory requirements. This involves rigorous testing, calibration, and routine maintenance to uphold precision in measurements and reliability in data collection, thereby supporting effective energy management and regulatory compliance. This position is required to be on standby as scheduled and work irregular hours when required.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct voltage surveys and analyze test results.
- Conduct dielectric testing of aerial devices and underground cable to ensure the electrical integrity of aerial devices and underground cable and ensure that aerial devices comply with OSHA standards.
- Respond to after-hours work needs and assist with coordinating the emergency repair of the electric system to respond within the established time frame to consumer and electric system needs and restore service in a timely manner following an outage.
- Complete all work in conformance w/ LCEC's Accident Prevention Rules.
- Maintain effective working relationships with employees and customers at all levels within LCEC. Ensure smooth operations, productive communications, and effective understanding during all interpersonal contacts. Provide current and accurate information to all requesters, courteously and in a timely manner.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
Experience
- 2 Years experience reading, changing and maintaining meters and successful documented completion of an electric meter testing program. (Required)
- 2 Years experience as a residential and commercial electrician. (Preferred)
- 2 Years automatic Meter Reading troubleshooting experience. (Preferred)
- 2 Years experience working in a related electric utility engineering, construction or metering related field. (Preferred)
- Experience handling hand tools (i.e. power & hydraulic). (Preferred)
- Experience or education in electrical theory (e.g. courses through ICS or Votech in electrical theory). (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to navigate within Windows PC environment. Create, open and close files or applications using a mouse.
- Familiar with LCEC Meter Testing Software Packages including MeterMate, WattNet Express, L&G 1132, and operation of a WECO test board.
- Familiar with LCEC Voltage Monitoring software packages including PMI.
Licenses and Certifications
- Driver License, Valid in State Florida driver license or ability to obtain w/in 30 days of employment. (Required)
Additional Licenses and Certifications
- Completion of an apprentice meter tester installer program (Required)
