Production Supervisor
D&D Commodities, a business unit of Central Garden & Pet, is a leader in the bird food manufacturing industry. We're seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor for our Stephen, MN, location, to help ensure products meet high standards for quality, safety, and efficiency. This role plans and directs daily production operations in line with company goals and policies, working closely with both leadership and production employees. The ideal candidate is professional, safety-minded, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Shift Details:
  • First shift: Monday through Friday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Full-time position, with potential for some additional voluntary overtime and weekend shifts.

Stephen, MN
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Plant Manager by directing day-to-day production activities to meet volume, quality, and delivery goals.
  • Serve as a hands-on-floor supervisor, responding to and resolving production employee's questions and concerns.
  • Schedule production runs to ensure customer orders are fulfilled and inventory levels are balanced.
  • Identify priority of orders and ensure adequate stock of raw materials and supplies.
  • Request and coordinate temporary staffing to maintain production coverage as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor production employees to support professional growth, achieve performance goals, and ensure accountability through timely feedback, documentation, and corrective action.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, company policies and procedures, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, including seed, packaging, labels, bags, and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational, communication, time management, and problem-solving skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with OSHA/safety protocols, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and maintain safe practices.
Minimum Experience & Education:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience preferred.
  • 2+ years of previous experience in production, machine operation, warehouse, or agricultural/farming environments preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience, including responsibility for coaching and performance management.
Working Conditions:
  • Work environment includes a non-climate-controlled warehouse production facility, with frequent proximity to moving mechanical parts, product irritants, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Tasks may occasionally involve working at heights, in confined spaces, and amidst moderate noise levels.

Position Information:
  • Full-time, benefit eligible, nonexempt status.
  • Pays $23.00 - $27.00 per hour depending on experience.
