Reuters Video is looking for a creative Senior Producer to elevate and differentiate our coverage in North America, managing the storytelling of both breaking and initiative news content. The Senior Producer will liaise with and direct visual journalists and the wider U.S. team to deliver standout coverage on the top stories of the day and impactful enterprise and initiativecontent. The producer will also undertake senior intake and output roles as needed.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record in producing original and compelling stories for both broadcast and digital and razor-sharp editorial judgement.

The role will involve storyboarding ideas with visual and text journalists as well as directing crews and producers and ensuring edits comply with Reuters standards and ethics.

We want someone who is confident handling breaking news as well as managing stories that go beyond the headlines and delve deeper into the issues from the region that matter to our clients.

This is a full-time role that demands flexibility to work unpredictable hours and weekends and will report to the North America News Editor for Video and will be based in Washington, DC.

About the Role

As the Senior Producer, Visual Storytelling, you will:

  • Work with news gathering teams across the North America region and help drive original storytelling and initiative coverage that differentiates and elevates our coverage
  • Have a keen eye for visual storytelling and the ability to provide video coverage within tight deadlines
  • React quickly to breaking news offering strong coverage across all platforms, ability to juggle coverage priorities
  • Produce tight, well-written accurate news copy to deadline
  • Pitch story ideas which work well for digital and broadcast platformsand also the text file
  • Lead journalistic teams that cover major news events, starting from the planning phase through to field work
  • Represent visuals internally and externally, building a strong relationship with local and international clients
  • Uphold Reuters Trust Principles of independence, integrity and freedom from bias

About You

To be our Senior Producer, Visual Storytelling you will likely have:

  • Solid editorial experience in managing a broadcast, agency or digital newsroom
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent news judgment, with a clear vision of what makes a compelling visual story
  • Ability to build and develop strong news gathering teams
  • Thorough understanding of the latest digital video technologies for filming, editing, transmitting and sharing video
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships quickly
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to drive speed and accuracy across the news file

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $109,690 - $203,710.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
