THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is interested in hiring a Geospatial Specialist 2 to perform technical and analytical work in geographic information systems at both a regional and enterprise level. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The Geospatial Specialist 2 performs technical and analytical work in geographic information systems to capture, manipulate, analyze, maintain, interpret, and present geospatial and related data while providing professional GIS coordination, planning, and analysis. This position works as a member of the regional office team, reporting to the Chief, GIS Services Division, Bureau of Automated Technology Services (BATS). You will have the opportunity to consult with various program managers within the region to identify, define and plan the development and implementation of applications and techniques for public information and administration, and wildlife habitat management, protection and research. Key to this position is ensuring compliance with the Commission's standard operating procedures, policies and plans relating to the use and development of GIS hardware, applications and associated data. You will function as the region's primary point of contact and advisor for the use and support of the virtual desktop infrastructure, mobile technology, GIS software and existing GIS business applications.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to two days per week once initial training period is complete. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Jersey Shore.
  • Please Note: This position and office will relocate to the State College, PA area within four years.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Geospatial Specialist 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of technical experience utilizing geospatial programs to capture, store, manipulate, analyze, maintain, and present geospatial data; and an associate's degree in geographic information systems, geography, geospatial technology, cartography, computer science, natural science, or related STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field, including or supplemented by six (6) credits in geospatial coursework; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes or is supplemented by six (6) credits in geospatial coursework.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires that you possess one or more years of full-time experience with ArcGIS Pro.
  • This particular position also requires that you possess one or more years of full-time experience with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise.
