About the role

Metals Processing O&M Supervisor is responsible for leading and instilling a safe work culture, driving plant efficiencies, talent development and instilling an accountable work environment at the site. The O&M Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of 5-7 heavy equipment operators and sorting technicians optimizing the overall capacity of the operation and yield of resalable metals. . This is a "hands-on" position in which the Supervisor is directly involved with day-to-day operation and maintenance of the equipment, inventory planning, logistics, and efforts for sustainable reuse of the residual materials. . The O&M Supervisor is the on-site link between our supplying facilities, our hauler, our customer, and our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Adherence to environmental, health, and safety procedures and permit requirements.
  • Lead site operations to consistently meet or exceed business objectives and Annual Operating Plan targets.
  • Develop and execute strategy for the site to increase operational discipline/accountability, productivity, quality, reliability, employee engagement/retention.
  • Champion use of Six Sigma/Lean tools in driving plant improvement to develop and implement strategic initiatives relative to inventory, capacity utilization, and growth opportunities to deliver business results and drive maturity beyond current level.
  • Maintain cost effectiveness through aggressive productivity and asset management.
  • Improve and develop organization capabilities through effective performance management and planning/utilization of human and capital resources.
  • Drive cultural change, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset throughout the team.
  • Champion programs to address employee satisfaction, employee training, communications, technology transfer, process improvement and departmental structure to support operating and strategic goals.
  • Coordinates with Facility Manager all outages and maintenance planning activities including utilizing regional and corporate resources when necessary to maximize effectiveness.
  • Tours the facility routinely during the period of the assigned shift and oversees the work of the operators.
  • Work with our supplying facilities and logistics providers to execute a sound, optimized operating plan
  • Candidate should expect a breakdown of work of 70% operations, 25% maintenance, 5% Administrative duties
  • Help coordinate the Outages/Capex budgets, planning, scopes, and schedules.

Position Requirements:

  • Previous management experience in material handling, or equivalent industry.
  • General knowledge of Metals sorting equipment and materials, operating procedure and standards to properly maintain and enforce cost effective, safe and efficient Facility.
  • Proven leadership skills as a team player/builder and a driver of value-added results.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations, project planning, cost control, and program management.
  • Ability to track the finances of the site and update the P&L accordingly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to influence others and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in use of Six Sigma tools, with Lean, Black belt or Green belt certification preferred.
  • Proven track record of success in implementing HS&E programs and business initiatives.
  • Strong internal and external communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to energize and develop all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in building (re-building) process/systems focused structure.
  • Familiarity with front end loaders, industrial equipment, magnetics, material handlers, skid steer, and man-lift recommended.
  • Ability to tolerate frequent standing, walking, crouching, crawling and kneeling as well as the ability to work outdoors is a must.
  • Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
