Job Summary

Inventory Specialist - Food and Beverage

The Inventory Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations of food and beverage services at the George R. Brown Convention Center and selected Theater operations. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate stock levels, tracking inventory movement, and ensuring seamless communication with senior management regarding all food and beverage equipment and supplies for Banquets and Concession Departments.
General Responsibilities:

  • Work with management to monitor and maintain inventory levels for food and beverage banquet supplies
  • Track stock movement for each event
  • Conduct regular stock audits and reconcile discrepancies
  • Coordinate with purchasing to ensure suppliers delivery timely
  • Manage and process purchase orders for banquet supplies
  • Oversee banquet decoration inventory, ensuring proper storage and maintenance of decor items
  • Work closely with event teams to forecast demand of items and prevent shortages
  • Identify ways to ensure shortage and improve efficiency
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory transactions and generate reports

Planning & Preparation:

  • Selecting themes and decor styles based on the event type
  • Ensuring inventory availability for linens, centerpieces, banquet and chef tables and decorative props
  • Coordinating with vendors to order flowers, drapery, and specialty decorations
  • Inspecting stored decorations for any damage or wear and coordinating replacements or repairs

Post-Event Cleanup & Inventory Management:

  • Collecting and storing reusable decorations properly for future events
  • Conducting post-event inventory audits to track missing or damaged items
  • Coordinating cleaning and maintenance of banquet department

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in supply chain management and/or hospitality preferred)
  • Proven experience in inventory management, preferably in the food and beverage banquet industry
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of food and beverage safety and sanitations regulations
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, event-based environment
