TITLE: Mechanical Engineer II

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The mechanical engineer requires a strong self-motivated individual that supports the daily machine uptime and plant operations including day to day problem solving for issues relative to production, process, and maintenance and facility equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Technology
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must possess knowledge of electronic, automation, and process machinery controls
  • Strong skill set in CAD design for mechanical parts and machine alterations
  • Strong skill set with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electronic process controls.
  • Strong skill set with reliability maintenance methodologies and predictive maintenance
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.
  • Other Skills/Abilities


  • Must have experience in metal cutting processes, hydraulic, or process industry.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office, Autodesk, or CAD design tools
  • Experience with Ultrasonic Testing a plus
  • Must have experience in interpreting machine and part drawings
  • Expected to work overtime to complete daily tasks and projects
  • Must work off hours, holidays and weekends to assist on emergency jobs
  • On call hours are required
  • Must be able to work in manufacturing environment (dust, noise and heat) which requires steel toe shoes, safety glasses and hearing protection
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. if needed
  • Travel by automobile and plane 10-20% of the time.
  • Ability to work in a Team environment



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Support maintenance staff in machine repairs
  • Design parts or machine components as required using AutoCAD, Inventor or other software
  • Perform equipment improvement studies, initiate projects and follow through from initiation to completion
  • Preventative maintenance functions for - oil analysis, Ultrasonic test and vibration analysis
  • Develop maintenance work instructions to verify the quality of the work performed and ensure best practices are followed
  • Develop preventative maintenance instructions for lubrication, calibration and machine adjustments for machine and equipment for technician skill training.
  • Support spare part and machine component specification and procurement
  • Lead equipment continuous improvement projects
  • Be the Team Leader for process equipment and machine improvement projects
  • Assist and apply techniques to improve machine reliability and uptime
  • As assigned, lead specific maintenance technician training
  • Assist as directed in shutdown planning and organization
  • Involve production and maintenance to improve machine/ equipment downtime and repair
  • Assist production in operator training for process and machines
  • Lead cost reduction projects
  • Project manager for machine/ equipment procurement and installation projects -PdM Engineering assigned
  • Use engineering calculations to properly size new equipment and review such with management.
  • Prepare drawings of new equipment installations for management review
  • Prepare complete bill of materials for projects and after management approval, expedites delivery of all necessary parts



WORK ENVIRONMENT CONDITIONS SUBJECTED TO IN THIS POSITION:



  • Inside environmental conditions protected from weather conditions, not necessarily temperature conditions.
  • Outside environmental conditions, no effective protection from weather.
  • Inside and outside environments apply.
  • Subject to extreme cold; temperatures below 32 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
  • Subject to extreme heat; temperatures above 100 degrees for more than one hour.
  • Subject to noise, causing reason to shout in order to be heard above the noise level.
  • Subject to vibration, exposure, fluctuating movement of the body.
  • Subject to hazards such as moving machinery, electrical currents, falling debris, exposure to chemicals, gases, high heat or explosives.
  • Subject to unregulated atmospheric conditions caused by odors, fumes, gases, poor ventilation and dusts.
  • Subject to oils and other cutting fluids via touch or air.
  • Air density conditions causing the use of a respirator
