Role Description & Responsibilities

Our SOLIDWORKS Lab is excited to announce we have an internship opportunity available in our Waltham, MA office! SOLIDWORKS leads the global 3D computer-aided design (CAD) industry with easy-to-use 3D software that trains and supports the world's engineering and design teams as they drive tomorrow's product innovation.

As an intern, your work will focus on understand multidiscipline needs (engineering, marketing, assembly, logistics, purchasing, etc.) As well as testing prototypes and write reports to document results

In this role, you will be asked to be a team player cross function teams by bringing your strong interpersonal skills. Possess the ability to develop basic detail and assembly drawings for products and equipment. Take ownership to resolve technical problems or prompt response to address issues and escalate as needed. Use your hands on skills (cutting, forming, fabricating, brazing, welding) - Preferred.

You will help the team by:



  • CAD Modeling: Use SOLIDWORKS to create 3D models of technical components, including mechanisms, subsystems, and the overall product structure.
  • Part Selection: Research and select appropriate commercially available components of product assemblies and sub-assemblies
  • Prototype Construction: Assist with building and testing prototypes of designed components in 3DEXPERIENCE Lab (Fab Lab).
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, mentors, and SOLIDWORKS engineers (if applicable).
  • Design Documentation: Create and maintain design documentation for products, including BOMs (Bill of Materials).
  • Project Tasks: Potentially be involved in additional tasks like software engineering, electrical design, or CNC operation.

  • SOLIDWORKS Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS software and its features.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical, electrical, and/or software skills are beneficial.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to collaborate effectively with others and communicate design ideas clearly.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze problems, find solutions, and troubleshoot design issues.

Qualifications

  • On track to obtain a Mechanical Engineering degree.
  • Knowledge of SOLIDWORKS CAD. CSWP Preferred.
  • Understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Exceptional people, project, presentation and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to create reports summarizing your work.


In addition to working with your direct team, as a member of Dassault Systemes NAM Intern Program you will be invited to our Speaker Series, Lunch and Learns, Networking Events and employee functions.

Compensation for the role will be commensurate with experience. The total expected compensation range will be between $20 - $24 per hour.
