The Designated Inspector - Production verifies the accuracy and completeness of documentation, performs inspections of the completed work products from the assigned department's technicians, and ensures all necessary paperwork is prepared in preparation for the discrepancy review.

nspects aircraft airframes, engines, components, modifications and completions, and systems using appropriate tools and equipment to

nsure conformity with specifications and standards as defined in Duncan Aviation's RSGOM. The Inspector mentors and guides technicians to make consistent and logical airworthiness determinations;
develops regulatory and inspection process knowledge to increase the overall quality focus of the department; and a
ccurately bills time to work orders
.

Essential Job Functions



  1. Reviews completed documentation of work performed for accuracy and comprehensiveness and inspects physical product(s) for compliance and quality of workmanship.

  2. Coaches and mentors technicians and inspectors on the Duncan Quality Culture within the assigned department to promote continuing improvement of overall quality focus and develop regulatory knowledge.
  3. Provides team leaders and/or management detailed, weekly turnovers of individual technician performance to identify documentation and technical shortfalls within assigned department. Accurately documents and provides results to the quality department utilizing the Duncan Quality Management System (QMS) to track quality shortfalls and progress of assigned department.
  4. Completes specific training for Production Designated Inspector as required by the assigned department and quality department. Creates and implements training, guidelines, and quick reference materials to help technicians improve on specific quality shortfalls.
  5. Inspects aircraft, airframes, engines, components, modifications and completions, and systems using appropriate tools and equipment as applicable. Ensures conformity with specifications and standards as defined in Duncan Aviation's RSGOM. Makes consistent and logical airworthiness determinations based upon Type Certificate Data Sheets, Supplemental Type Certificates, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
  6. Reviews upcoming projects to identify quality needs specific to the operator. Coordinates with other departments to determine consistency and updates the work order with proper tracking codes and specific documentation requirements.
  7. Willingly and effectively shares regulatory and inspection process knowledge with less experienced technicians to foster development, ensure accurate work, and support team goals. Recommends to leadership, technicians that meet standards for eligibility for consideration of a VI or QI inspection authority.
  8. Assists department trainer in coordinating the completion of training in accordance with the department training policy. Provides continuous feedback to the Team Leader on performance in support of reviews.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by management.



Job Specific Requirements



  • Licenses/Certificates: Airframe and Powerplant Certificate or appropriate Repairman's Certificate; Quality Inspector; valid driver's license and acceptable driving record; Respirator Fit qualified
  • Attendance: Regularly scheduled attendance required; on-call hours
  • Physical: Reads small print; hears sounds associated with mechanical deficiencies; repetitive motion; tolerates working in confined spaces and heights above four feet; tolerates products and materials associated with component maintenance; tolerates standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching and sitting
  • Environmental: Tolerates working in noisy environments



Education and Experience



  • High School graduate or equivalent required
  • Three years general aviation maintenance experience required
