The Nurse Practitioner is a professional registered nurse with advanced education and training in the medical care of adult and pediatric populations. The Nurse Practitioner is responsible for providing care to patients under the medical supervision of the physician and according to the nursing process. These responsibilities include history taking, physician examinations, diagnosis, and interpretation of lab and EKG findings. With appropriate authorization, will also write and sign prescriptions or transmit prescription verbally or by other means. This responsibility involves ongoing collaboration with the physician. All responsibility and accountability are a function of the nurse practitioner by the collaboration agreement between nurse practitioner and physician. KNOWLEDGE Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Masters' Degree in nursing required with current national certification as a nurse practitioner. Certified in ACLS required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner degree from an accredited masters' program of nursing. Receive eligibility for Prescriptive Authority through the West Virginia Board of Registered Professional Nurses. EXPERIENCE One year experience in family medicine preferred. Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Cardiology Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with cardiovascular conditions, working closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a Level I Trauma Center. Your expertise in acute care and advanced nursing practices will be essential in delivering high-quality patient care, including medication administration and telehealth services. Responsibilities Conduct thorough assessments of patients with cardiovascular issues, including history taking and physical examinations. Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and clinical guidelines. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Perform catheterization procedures and other diagnostic tests as needed. Provide education to patients and their families regarding cardiac health, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care and optimize outcomes. Utilize telehealth technologies to monitor patient progress and provide follow-up care remotely. Address behavioral health concerns related to cardiac conditions, ensuring a holistic approach to patient wellness. Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the cardiology department. Qualifications Master's degree in Nursing with a specialization as a Nurse Practitioner. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with certification in cardiology preferred. Experience in acute care settings, particularly within a Level I Trauma Center, is highly desirable. Proficiency in catheterization techniques and medication administration protocols. Knowledge of gastric lavage procedures and botulinum toxin treatment is an asset. Strong communication skills for effective patient education and collaboration with healthcare teams. Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with advancements in cardiology care. |
