Organizational Unit Overview |
Facilities Services primary purpose is to maintain, operate, and improve the physical plant of the Health Sciences Campus (
HSC) and West Research Campus (
WRC) and eight School of Dental Medicine Service Learning Centers located across the state of North Carolina. This includes over 1.7 million square feet of enclosed space in buildings varying in age from 1 to 40 years. Programming on these campuses includes academic instruction, research, and patient care. |
Job Duties |
The duties include but are not limited to: document/data management across multiple areas to insure both compliance as well as continuity of business functions; monitoring, maintenance, and analysis of financial data; purchasing and inventory control; monitoring and reporting for fixed assets; human resources support; identifying opportunities for the continuous improvement of the business support operations to insure the most effective programs and policies are implement to receive and process information; coordination, direction, and evaluation of all administrative support staff to accomplish objectives, to include: fulltime, temporary, and work study positions; effective and concise communication both internally to Campus Operations and externally through a variety of communications platforms. The position serves as the principle personal and administrative support to the Director. |
Minimum Education/Experience |
Bachelor's degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education |
Preferably the person in this position will have experience in financial accounts, monitoring and adjusting budgets, and preparing financial reports; a working knowledge of accounting principles and practices, business math, and bookkeeping for budget planning, analysis and control, purchasing, salary forecasting, reporting, and reconciliation; strong oral and written communication skills to communicate and interact with different personalities with the ability to convey information and guidelines in a clear and professional manner, using diplomacy, tact, and discretion in all interactions. The ability to multitask many functions at one time and mange priorities under deadline pressures in a very busy professional environment is preferred. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of software (Word, Power Point, Excel, Publisher, Visio, and Access) is preferred.
Experience with any of the following university software programs/platforms is advantageous:
KRONOS,
PETS,
AIM
CMMS,
PORT,
BANNER, or Chrome River. Familiarity with basic building maintenance trades is a plus. |
