Senior Analyst Fiscal and Budget

Department of Administrative Services - Central Business Office

Salary Pay Range: $65,915.20 - $98,862.40

Job Summary: Under limited direct supervision the Senior Analyst Fiscal and Budget handles financial activities within their assigned division(s). This position reconciles, compiles, and forecasts financial data to support divisions in accomplishing goals within budgeted appropriations. The Senior Analyst will assist with the development of financial policies and procedures while remaining current with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, Governmental Accounting Practices, and statutes/ordinances relating to the County.

Essential Responsibilities:



  • Under limited direct supervision, prepare the annual division(s)' operating and/or capital budgets. Provide division directors with timely, accurate, meaningful data for use in preparation. Ensure budgets are in compliance with departmental mission and tax levy expectation.
  • Reconcile and compile financial data to assist divisions to accomplish goals within budgeted appropriations. Provide fiscal analysis, financial forecasting, and technical assistance.
  • Assist with providing accounting oversight for assigned division(s) in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and governmental accounting standards.
  • Prepare journal entries for assigned division(s). Review and prepare procurement entries for assigned division(s).
  • Prepare required fiscal and budget reports for assigned division(s). Ensure timely submission of required reports for assigned division(s) including Revenue Deficit Report, Fiscal Reports, Fund Transfers, position changes, and others as necessary.
  • Assist with the development of policies and procedures for the department.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of Wisconsin.
  • Possession of a valid state of Wisconsin driver's license and personal vehicle, both able to be maintained throughout employment.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting.
  • Five (5) or more years of experience working in Accounting, Finance, or Budgeting.
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Competent in analyzing financial data, understanding financial statements, and identifying trends and insights.
