TITLE: Cost Accountant

POSITION OBJECTIVE: The qualified candidate will be responsible for monthly and annual closing, accounts reconciliation/analysis, preparing tax and auditing packaging, accounts payable as assigned and other special projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Previous accounting related experience is preferred but not required
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office & Window based PC Skills is required.
  • Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills are required.
  • Overtime during month-end closing and year-end closing, travel for physical inventory or special project is required.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary.
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions.



JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Routines: Review and process to ensure that the requests from the Divisions and other departments follow accounting policies on tasks such as Material adjustment, finished goods inventory adjustment, scrap adjustment, purchase requisition approval, and processing A/R write-offs.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing: Review expense transfer and correction requests from Divisions. Determine the correct accounting method based on the accounting professionals' knowledge and judgment in compliance with GAAP to make general ledger or sub-ledger transactions. Accounting retains its professionalism and control in agreeing to or rejecting requests from divisions. Set up, modify, and maintain cost tables and expense queries, prepare cost reports and management reports, and work with the Division office for budget setup.


  • Prepare and analyze cost information/report: Prepare profit/loss variance analysis, find the root cause for the cost abnormality, and work with related parties to find a feasible resolution to avoid similar issues in the future.
  • Reconcile accounts: Monitor and maintain major accrual balances. Research and judge the best action to reconcile balances in compliance with GAAP. Reconcile cost-related accounts for monthly and year-end reconciliation. Review the subsequent information, understand the root cause of the under/over accrual, and propose top-side adjustments as part of year-end reconciliations.
  • Prepare auditing information: Work with the auditor to obtain and provide the required information, explain the auditor's analytical questions, follow up, and book adjustments to reflect the audited Trial balance. Perform annual physical inventory for internal and external auditing purposes. Work closely with plant personnel to ensure that the plant complies with the policies, follow up on posting physical variances, reconcile, and prepare an inventory roll-forward report.
  • Prepare tax information for use tax and state tax filing: Prepare tax packages for the Tax Dept., including sales and use tax reports by each state, as well as property tax information. Perform tax research for updated information and new tax regulations/rules as needed or upon request.
  • Perform payment processing and reconciliation for major raw materials suppliers and utility vendors: Progressive payment, purchase payment, FPC material payment, and other intercompany, reconcile discount vendor's A/R aging statement and respond to vendor's payment inquiries. Ensure that Frequency payment/auto-deduction matches bank deduction and vendor's invoice.
  • Perform other assignments or special projects.
