The Finance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Finance Director in preparing and delivering accurate reports related to our business unit's financial and accounting activities as well as providing analysis impacting other departments as needed.

Responsibilities include month-end closing activities, preparation of reconciliations, monthly P&L analysis and forecasts. You will form working relationships across varying internal departments as well as throughout the Sony Music organization as required in order to obtain and better analyze your data.

Additionally, in this role you will be preparing and evaluating financial models with a view to summarizing results to assist senior management in decision-making. You should feel comfortable communicating verbally and in written form with various management levels to help convey results of your analysis.


What you'll do:

  • The creation and analysis of various revenue reports (for both artists and digital service providers - "DSP") from multiple reporting systems and sources for the use in budgeting and forecasting deliverables.
  • Working cross-functionally to drive financial accountability across label departments
  • Assisting in the research and analysis of new and existing artist and label deals, through the use of IRR models and other evaluation methods. This includes researching prospective artist performance and deriving revenue valuations.
  • Assisting in preparing artist revenue and recoupment forecasts.
  • Reviewing Joint Venture (JV) statements prepared by Sony Music Entertainment's Shared Services team, for issuance to artist and management teams.
  • Assisting in monitoring and controlling the company's costs.
  • Automating data collection, transformation, and reporting processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Tracking, analyzing and communicating the monthly US Latin market size, market share and market growth
  • Supporting the accounting department during the month-end close process by explaining variances.
  • Preparing monthly flash forecasts, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and mid-range plans, ensuring all required corporate submissions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Leveraging advanced data analytics and statistical modeling to enhance financial forecasting, scenario planning, and decision-making.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the annual budget and monthly forecasts submitted to Corporate.
  • Preparing monthly variance analysis comparing actuals to budget/forecast for key management reports.
  • Assisting in the preparation of presentations for Business Plan, Business Review, and other key meetings.
  • Developing reports using data visualization tools to give insights to stakeholders in strategic decision-making positions (ie. Tableau, Power BI, etc.).
  • Defining ad-hoc reporting requirements, gathering key inputs, and providing analysis to the internal business community and other stakeholders.


Who you are:

Experience & Knowledge:



  • Experience of 3+ years in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Data Science
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on Data Science, Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Music or entertainment industry experience preferred
  • Public accounting experience is a plus
  • SAP financial system experience is preferred

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Advanced Excel skills - able to use pivot tables, v look ups, index, and other complex formulas
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office package knowledge, excl. Excel (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Understand Macros preferred

  • Excellent presentation skills,
