Position Summary

Purpose, Scope & Dimension of Job
:
Purpose: The Digital Marketing Specialist is responsible for supporting the mission of Mott Community College through effective coordination of communications methods and implementation of digital strategies to ensure positive representation of the College by implementing tactics which portray the College in a favorable light to its target audiences: prospective and current students; administrators, faculty and staff; and the general public. The Digital Marketing Specialist coordinates social media planning and scheduling, local directories, paid media and search engine marketing. Working under the supervision of the Executive Director, Marketing and Communications, who develops and leads the marketing and communications strategy for the College, the Communications Specialist utilizes the College's strategic plans to drive departmental key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to social media engagement and paid media. The Digital Marketing Specialist works closely with various academic divisions and departments at the College, including the Academic Affairs, Student Success Services and Administration, Continuing Education, and the College's extensions and satellite locations, to ensure that the digital marketing efforts support the College's overall mission and strategic goals. Serving as the College's writer and digital marketing expert, the Digital Marketing Specialist serves as a primary conduit for information collection between academic divisions and departments and the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, so information collected can be strategically utilized amongst all the marketing, public relations and communications tactics.

Scope:
The Digital Marketing Specialist works and interacts with a broad range of constituencies in different capacities, on and off campus. The Digital Marketing Specialist can function individually and as part of a team on a variety of documents, projects and presentations, and works proactively on behalf of the entire College, representing its best interest with effective communication practices, collaboration and professionalism. The Digital Marketing Specialist must be able to work collaboratively and effectively with a diverse set of individuals and groups and management platforms

Dimension:
The level of work performed and volume of materials produced by the Digital Marketing Specialist is comprehensive. On a typical day, the Digital Marketing Specialist will gather, research and prepare content for social media planning, local directories and search engine marketing by conducting interviews or meeting with faculty, staff or students. In addition, the Communications Specialist establishes and maintains a library of pertinent resources and reference materials for the development of digital marketing content.

Supervisory Responsibility:
No supervisory responsibility.
Minimum Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in digital marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field.
2. Three years' experience in a marketing or communications environment.
3. Excellent research, interviewing, writing, editing and proofreading skills, including knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style guidelines.
4. Experience in developing social media strategies and managing a successful social media initiative.
5. Experience in developing SEM strategies and digital media buys and/or certifications.
6. Consummate communication skills to work with a diverse group of stakeholders.
7. Ability to organize resources and establish priorities when gathering information and communicating key messages to various internal and external audiences is necessary.

1. Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to work as a member of a cross-functional team, demonstrating a capacity to work effectively with colleagues at all levels of the College.
2. Keen time management and organizational skills; must be self-motivated with an ability to develop and follow through on projects while handling multiple assignments with timelines.
3. Excellent problem-solving skills, demonstrating ability to make good judgment calls and sound decisions.
4. Awareness of the importance for maintaining confidentiality and exercising sensitivity in matters and situations that warrant heightened discretion.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
1. The employee must be able to move about 1/3 of the time and be stationary about 2/3 of the time. S/he is required to be mobile around campus for participant involvement/activities.
2. Constantly operates a computer.
3. Constantly communicates with people in person, on the phone, and online.
Work Schedule
40 hours, plus additional hours as required. The individual in this position must be willing to work a flexible schedule that will occasionally include evenings and weekends.
