ABOUT THE POSITION

GIS Analyst | Hybrid | Orlando

VHB is seeking to hire a GIS Analyst to join our growing Southeast team, with Orlando FL as preferred office locations. The qualified candidate will work within VHB's GIS team to provide a range of GIS services to a diverse set of clients in areas such as transportation, municipal, energy, institutional, real estate, and state and local government.

The successful candidate should be proficient in the Esri Software Suite (Desktop platforms, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise and Esri Mobile applications). The position offers opportunity in expanding and continuing to shape the group.

Responsibilities

    Provides task management support on GIS related projects.
  • Work within a team that designs, creates, and implements complex spatial databases in the system and helps software engineers and other staff understand spatial data processes in support of creating and maintaining end-user applications.
  • Provides GIS support to ensure departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Provide support in configuring web applications using Esri's ArcGIS Online/Portal (ArcGIS Field Maps, Survey123, StoryMaps, ArcGIS Dashboard, Web Maps and Web Applications), to support project work.
  • Communicate and be able to work as an individual as well as part of a large team.
  • Proactively provide your own ideas and solutions to solve project related problems.
  • Perform Quality Control tests on data entry and map deliverables done by others.

Skills and Attributes

  • Must have a solid understanding of the principles and practices of GIS and cartography.
  • Demonstrated experience in task managing GIS implementation projects.
  • Geodatabase management and maintenance.
  • Experience configuring web applications using Esri's web application frameworks such as Experience Builder and Web App Builder.
  • Able to create map services and interactive web applications.
  • Able to utilize GIS applications to perform advanced spatial analysis or data conversion or manipulation. i.e., raster/surface manipulation, mosaic, modify and repurpose imagery for other software.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages, Python, JavaScript, Arcade, C# is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience providing GIS services within any of the following markets, transportation, state, local or regional government, energy or environmental.
  • Ability to learn new skills and methods on-the-fly, troubleshoot issues, and solve technical problems.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the use of GIS technology required
  • BS in GIS, Engineering, Planning, or Geography
  • Master's degree preferred and may be substituted for 1-2 years of experience
  • GISP certification preferred
  • Experience working with the Esri product Suite, Desktop, Web, and strong understanding of Esri data models required
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work for VHB in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
